Here's what will happen, when & how I know...

Before Rio signed the agreement & took an 8% ownership stake they had discussions with WRN, had a relatively good understanding of the nature of the project, were familiar with the geographic landscape, the FN landscape, the political landscape, the financial landscape and the ESG landscape. If they didn't like the looks of any of the above it would of stopped right there.  And it may of already stopped right there with other suitors but we'll likely never know.  And believe me, they had a pretty good idea of what the purchase price would be or they wouldn't of proceeded.

The agreement allowed them to confirm all of the above and that they did.  Things were either as good as, or better than they had been told.  They would not of signed the extension if this were not the case.  In the mean time copper, gold, silver and moly have all increased in price and the copper story only continues to gain momentum in our green future.

I've been involved with over 20 aquisitions in my career and once we signed CA agreements we never failed to close a deal.  Barring being mislead or uncovering fraud the deals went ahead and at a price close to what we had envisioned at the beginning.

So where does that leave us today.  This thing will close before the end of Q3 because there is no reason why it shouldn't.  All the work is done, all the boxes are checked.  I don't have a clue what it will sell for but both WRN & Rio certainly do.  They will dance around a bit as is always done but they both know approximately where they will end up.  Rio needs to get it done as they need the resource and they don't need any competative tension.  WRN needs to get it done because that is what they are in business to do - find something, develope it & sell it.

We as shareholders bought into a business model that has a limited life.  It has an end.  We're pretty much there.  No more boxes to check.  Anyone can finish out the permitting on this and it's better for both WRN & Rio to have Rio do it.  Wrn has nothing left to offer.  Thier usefulness is coming to an end.

That's the way I see it.  Sit tight guys, a few days or a few months but nothing more....

Hi Pine, WRN will get it done, but they won't kow-tow to RIO in the absence of any competitive tension.  If the scenario is RIO bidding against themselves, that won't fly. Too many interested parties to say for certain at this juncture how it pans out.  I still stick with my RIO & NEM bidding war.  Occam's Razor:  the most logical outcome is the likeliest ...more

Occam's Razor: the outcome with the fewest variables is the likeliest outcome. Bidding war = multiple entities = multiple variables. Here, simply Rio & WRN agree on the work and come to terms on the price. Thus, Occam's Razor. Trust me, I want NEM to get involved here. They should want to get involved here. I've shown recent theoreticals on them possibly getting involved. But as ...more

"They haven't" that we know of.  I suspect they actually have been and we simply don't know it because it's not as public as the RIO agreement.

I like it Pine.

Pine I agree. With one caveat.  I was told the same thing more or less in 2010 2011. Let's hope it happens this time.

Sounds great Pine. It would be nice to be a fly on the wall during the back and forth negotiations. I do think Paul (and likely Rio) would have thought we would be trading at a higher market cap now than we are...and I just really wonder how that enters into the negotiations...as I'm obviously in the camp that believes that is important input to the back and forth.  regardless, I ...more

Sooner You say, "" I can't see this dragging out more than a year before an acquired agreement is reached....with Rio or other. "" I can't see this draging out past Q1 with Rio or other ! M2

I am starting to agree with others, 8,9,10 months. still crossing fingers another bidder will enter to up the tension. hopeful it will happen. want it and i think us investors deserve it. waiting 16/17 years for 6 measely bucks is a bit much. dale and paul could have gotten double this in 2011 with lower gold, copper, and moly prices. hoping a gold company will enter and start creating tension ...more
