For those remembering, this is the same guy who had Tara on in the fall and wondered Gosh, who'll actually build these massive projects in the middle of nowhere?? And just lets this guy shade the Yukon up & down.

FWIW, I don't think Rio needs Canada to pick up the grid connection, just it'll factor what price they're willing to offer.

If you want production of ore concentrate to begin before about 2029, then you're building an LNG powered generator facility at the mine site.  Construction season in this part of the Yukon is 4 months at best; it will take years for the towers and transmission lines to reach that far north.  I watched a high voltage transmission line get installed along highway 52 between Rochester  ...more

I can understand how beneficial getting on the grid would be to the project and perhaps one day in the not so distant future it will happen & make this project even more economic.  However, it's not currently in the plan, not in the feasability study & not news to Rio.  They knew this before they made an investment and they extended knowing this as well.  The guy stated ...more

I agree. I think that's ridiculous to assume Rio not interested unless connected to grid. Once again, I'll state my ignorance from a mining infrastructure standpoint...but we all have heard that phase 1 is 27 years and is 1/3 the metal content.  Again, we also heard payback is 3 years on the capex. If they also pay $900M for WRN ...that's probably another couple years...so they ...more

By the way ...last time we heard Paul say "could be game changer" was the deep hole anamoly drill. Now he just said it again with grid connect. Maybe one of these times he will be correct....
