THE PRESSURE IS ON RIO NOW!

The next move will be RIO.
If RIO waits, someone else will move in, all Major eyes are on WRN now.
My bet RIO moves in real soon and takes out WRN.

The BRICS nations (ultimately the entire world) is moving towards commodity-backed currencies, in which gold/silver will take a primary position.  Given the huge implications for the demand for gold, Newmont cannot allow Casino to slip through their fingers.  The gold wealth at Casino will be in the 12 figures, this is no joke. The question remains to be seen whether NEM and RIO will JV ...more

YA, Sooner take that !! ""well in excess of $6 per share!  Hah!"" I would say more, but I don't want to get beat up !!  LOL M2

If it sold today for 1.2 billion it would be 7.45 a share. I wouldn't be upset but obviously hope for more as would anyone. Realistically I see it going anywhere from 6 usd to 9 usd. I keep leaning towards Sooners number as being reasonable more and more. Here's to hoping a bidding war begins.

Haha! You all need to stop being greedy and stick to the Sooners prediction....even that is a triple from here!  $6 usd per share...book it!!!!

Hey Sooner, sometimes you have to be greedy.  Take a look at us poor investors getting the scroogie with the ATAC and Sabina buyouts.  When bad buyouts occur, it is because the suitor is being greedy. It's OK once in awhile if we long-suffering junior resource investors hit a home run here or there and for us to be the greedy ones. Speaking of greedy, Buffett said it best:  ...more

I could not help but notice that while all of these things were happening today with WRN, RIO, and Mitsubishi, NMT was sealing their bid with Newcrest by upping their offer to $19.5 B US. I just can't see NMT getting involved right now with WRN while they are trying to assimilate Newcrest Oakie 1

Agreed Oakie - looking back when Palmer said they were shopping for copper "at a fair price" he was clearly talking Newcrest. Majors are still in "why build mines, when you can just buy them" mode, gold majors especially.  Again, listen to Paul: copper/gold doesn't mean a bucket of each. I believe this is him saying Dont worry about gold majors, Rio/MMC can handle ...more

Heywood, I am in your camp, too. Sabina and more recently ATAC were jokes. Those situations will not and cannot happen to us. The Mitsubishi endorsement, i feel, is more than Rio. We have an actual offtake partner. Now, any major can fit the template. Don't forget that we are number 5 in the world. This deserves double digit. If that means greedy, i suggest we all be a little agree. What good ...more

Sabina had weak insider ownership (only about 2%).  Ditto for ATAC. Sabina gave up just when it was near the finish line.  ATAC got cold feet once confronted with the prospect of having to wade through the red tape to get permits at Rackla. Common themes here are no large shareholders to hold management accountable to finish what they started. WRN, although not having the most robust ...more
