Port. Power Grid. Then what???

When Rio put first batch of money in WRN, Dale retired.  Rio just want to do some drill for confirmation. Now. They want port. And Grid. Later they want ....more and more. Dilution year by year.  That's  why port news out,  market don't  give a sheet, there is no deadline for this game. All has been traped into this endless game. Rio just cross the fingers and Balabala..

I'ts a rust game. Like a cancer. Just eating little by little until there is none left. Yes....a LOT od blablabla.
Comment by Pinegrove1 on Dec 05, 2023 11:03am
Rio has elected to keep their options open, let WRN further de risk the project and pay more in the future for avoiding this risk.
Comment by Sooner on Dec 05, 2023 11:07am
yeah - but the question is how much risk are they willing to take on? None? I mean ----- are they wanting clarity on the port...or are they wanting the port built? Are they wanting clarity on the roads? Or are they wanting the roads built? Are they wanting clarity on the BC grid connect? Or are they wanting the grid built? Are they wanting permitting clarity? Or are they wanting fully permitted ...more

Good questions. Paul is the one who should clarify! Clarity on each item moves the share price.  Completion of each item gives us the true value of this company.  But how many years is that!   Paul needs to stop promoting and start talking or we go nowhere!  They must bring in a new competitive opponent for Rio.  Miners are all being hit hard. It's planned and ...more

Sooner I agree on all your points " question is how much risk are they willing to take on? " We know there needs to be some competitive tension,, other interested parties willing to jump in.  Doesn't look like any of these CA's Paul has signed, these companies have not showen any new interest in making a bid for Casino at this time ! Rio may let this go long enough ...more

Ask yourself this - if last week had been a buyout announcement at a price shareholders would accept, when would RIO start receiving financial payback on their investment?
Comment by dfwrgk on Dec 05, 2023 12:34pm
Rio has the clout, the political connections and the money to move things along at a pace that we just don't currently have going-it-alone. We may make friends but they make deals, push them through to completeion and have the money to back it up.   If we are smart. WRN should immediately pull away from Rio except for requests for continued assistance with these political maneuvers that ...more

dfw - can you expand on this? "they make deals, push them through to completeion and have the money to back it up.  If we are smart. WRN should immediately pull away from Rio except for requests for continued assistance with these political maneuvers that must happen " I definitely agree with the rest on creeping takeover, etc - this goes on long as Paul allows. But if you ...more

Basically, I'm just saying that Rio is a huge, powerful company. They could make a Casino mine a functioning-reality in 2-4 years, regardless of the grid. And connect to it when it's finished.  We already know the numbers work very nicely at today's copper and gold prices. And I do they get much better.  My point was, I think if Rio actually wanted this project, securing it ...more

Well said. People knock Rio for various reasons, but credit where due: they DO bring projects through permitting, and they DO build. Plenty of mining CEO's out there saying No New Projects, but Rio walks the talk. Re today's press release: IMO, we're simply confirming something already in our plan, namely shipping the ore from Skagway. Right? It's not a de-risk, it's ...more

Does anyone doubt that the current embarrassment is caused by Paul's incompetence and selfishness? He doesn't care about you at all, but you place your hope on him!
Comment by Sooner on Dec 05, 2023 3:10pm
i'll turn this around --- and state if Rio TRULY believed in Copper prices going up significantly from today's price --- then the payback on the buyout announcement is an greatly increased future cash flow.  Totally agree --- plunking down $500M today for Casino (which is about $3 USD per share which I believe the BoD would take to a vote -- -yes go ahead and crucify me you double ...more

I followed up my email response from Paul with the below. I'll share if i get any feedback. Probably not...but at least i've conveyed my frustration so i feel better --- haha!!! ------------------------------------------ Thanks for the feedback and insights Paul. I understand Rio is looking out for their shareholders and they are NOT going to pay anything more for WRN than they have to ...more

These are all straight forward questions that would provide ALOT of clarity versus what we have had. Here is a list, check the boxes and onto an offer or offers, which we all agree is absolutely needed for a fair price. Rio is not inthe business of fair price bids. Look at every offer Rio has made for what they have bought. We know what we are going to see from them come buy time.

I agree, Asdfghjkon! It will take more than rising metal prices. Rio is known for playing hard ball and getting cheap if they can. Will take real competitive tension. 18 months will take us into 2025 right when the copper crunch sets in. Port is underway. Roads are underway.  Need more clarity on grid. Key is timing. Hope we can get those duckies to line up.
