Western Copper and Gold Corp > New narrative !

New narrative !

Sorry the new focuse is not a grid conection or dock development at Skagway for Western Copper it's Palul getting us out from under Rio's grip.

This 18 mo extension with Rio is nothing more then a cheap 5 year option on Casino, there will be more reasons to extend this option  after this 18mo !

Lest hope this 9.8% ownership by Rio does not scare off other potential interests.

New narrative for Paul will be finding a new partner for Mitsubishi  !

Hate to say I have been a shareholder for about 18 yrs and for what it's worth own 160K shares. Have no desire to accumulate any more shares and am looking for a way out. This new reality with Rio has it that no gold, copper price increase no Grid conection will change the fact Rio has us in the dead money category for the next 5yrs. This is now the reality Paul and the BOD has gotten us in,, ...more

Have you emailed those comments to Paul and let him respond on how he's hedging against it?

And tell me  WHY WRN is not permited today......Why?
Comment by Marine2 on Jan 06, 2024 9:04pm
MetalMinded Email Paul ,, No I would not wast my time, I am sure he has now looked at the big picture and can see how Rio played us and has the upper hand. Would Paul tell everyone he walked into a trap ? Other question ? I picked a number of 5 yrs as to how long Reo could keep extending this BS option, it could be 8 yrs ? (they have us in control now with only 9.8%,)   I ...more

So 5 years is a random number...  and 9.8% does not equal control. Not sure where you got that from either. Actually Rio has no control and other potential buyers have nothing to fear from them. If anything, Rio has furthered DD that other interested parties could take advantage of. Actually as time passes Rio is using their money to move the project along and as commodity prices rise and ...more

Pinegrove I see you are looking at this (RIO) through Rose Coloured Glasses, lets see where the markets take us ? You say we are moving forword,, I say WRN is now dead money now thanks to Rio ! M2
Comment by Pinegrove1 on Jan 06, 2024 10:37pm
I didn't say it wasn't dead money. It may very well be. I'm just saying Rio didn't cause it. WRN hasn't turned away from plan B because of Rio. The problem is that currently there isn't a plan B and that's the problem. If WRN had any options other than trudge along through permitting while waiting for commodity prices to come around they would do it. What do you suggest ...more

Pinegrove You gave my solution to the new reality of the day !  ""All that said, my preference is to sell at a discount and we can all move on. "" The new narrative / focuse for Paul is to "sell at a discount and we can all move on." ! M2 PS After 18 yrs this is what it has come down to !

We are in the Orphan period of the Lassonde Curve.  Long term investors get disgruntled and impatient in this period.  This is normal.  The ones who profit understand this and fight through their natural response.
Comment by Marine2 on Jan 07, 2024 1:49pm
Metal Sorry not in the Orphan / Lassonde Curve ' impatient period, I am in the 40 yrs of investing in these juniors and have a good idea of what this new situation with Rio is,,,  and how this all playes out.  Best we can hope for is Paul finds another interested party in making a low buyout bid,, one who can take on a $3 to $4 billion dollar project way up in the Yukon 5 to 10 yrs ...more
Comment by Heywood_Silvers on Jan 06, 2024 10:44pm
RIO has taken a strategic stake in WRN with the possibility of a buyout in the future.  Paul and the BoD have not bent over backwards to put RIO in control.  Quite the opposite, as they have restricted the amount of shares issued directly to RIO. How can any one entity contorl a company with less than 10% ownership of outstanding shares? Let's just say for argument's sake that ...more

Heywood I was as optimistic as you, now I look at the new reality, plain and simple. Possible 5 yrs of lock in with Rio,, "and yes control" wether we like it or not. I,, as an invester looking at WRN's connection with the likes of Rio (sucking the blood out of everything they touch) I would not be interested in WRN even if gold was $3,000 oz copper @ $6.00 lb. WRN's gameplan has not changed.  We are using their money to become a fully permitted mine project. The potential increased future dilution is while a disappointing reality certainly is offset by a having a fully permitted project. ...and along a similar timeline to permitting is grid advancement,  road work and copper price increase. Hopefully all elements come together in the not too distant future. Grid doesn't have to even be started, just a hard commitment that it will be done and an acceptable time-line. You want to talk about "competitive tension"!!

That's why insiders are buying like crazy on the open market.

Diamondboy Thats a good one "That's why insiders are buying like crazy on the open market. " LOL Does anyone know why Ken Engquist, Chief Operating Officer, quit October 18, 2023.  Ken had over a million stock options to cash in on a buyout. Ken had learnd with Rio there would never be a buyout and moved on ! Now that tells you something ! M2

It's probably just time for some people to be like Ken and sell...

Comment by MetalMinded on Jan 08, 2024 12:02pm
What I don't get about you and Diamond being so absolutely negative is, why don't you just sell and get out.  Even at a loss, take your licks, accept defeat and dreams squashed, and get out.  Why stick around invested in something you have little or no belief in.  I simply just don't get it.
Comment by Diamondboy123 on Jan 08, 2024 12:53pm
I have incredible belief in the idea of wrn. It's all else that is disappointing. My posts are realistic. They are not idealistic. If it can militate change and actually help truly realize the idea of wrn than I shall keep investing in it and posting re it. It sickens me that management treats it as their own personal piggy bank. Not right chappy.

well if he's like me...he has way too many shares that would likely tank the stock... I can imagine i'd definately take a tough loss dumping 50k shares a day for the next 9 days. Instead, I have a belief that within 5 years i'll at least get $4 USD a share....and i don't think i can easily get that return in anything else. Sooner I like you can't dump shares in this market, fortunately the other markets (TEC) have been kind to me so I don't need the money.   I'm holding out hope that within the next 6 -12 months we get another fish on the hook only I would be happy with a low ball bid @ $3.00 CD.  "5 years i'll at least get $4 USD a share"  Good luck with that,, I ...more

You are like someone who is in a terrible relationship and constantly complains about it but does nothing.  I was hoping he/she would change by now but they haven't.  I know they are about to change.  It's too expensive for me to go out and get my own place.  Blah blah blah.  If you are unhappy, do something about it.  Dang, stop acting like victims.  We ...more

Metal - personally speaking....having differences of opinions and input is good....not everyone is in the same position as you. I don't care about day to day or month to month activity.  I believe it will eventually be bought out and I'll get my payday.  If I was as unhappy as some who constantly complain on this board, I'd set a plan to get the heck out of this stock.  Why stay?  Do I agree with everything, no.  Do I sit  around and constantly complain because it hasn't worked ...more

Hay bud, no complaining here, just new reality,, I was all for moving forword higher Coppe , Gold prices  permitting and infrastructure also grid conection. This was all good until I figured out Rio would be the biggest beneficiary. WRN was going to become my $8 to $10 dollar stock,, now I would be happy with $3.00 in a years time. M2

Hi Sooner, you know, individuals who are hoping for $20 are very similar to the ones hoping to eek out $3 (albeit at opposite ends of the spectrum).  Wild pessimism or optimism is likely not in the cards as we all know the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I've been satisfied with my call for double-digits minimum and I suspect the BoD also will stick to their guns with similar ...more

Yes, but what is long term? Do you think 18 years is short term? Or do we have to wait 30 years? How long will it take to get permitted? Do you think this is normal  not to be permited yet after 18 years?
Comment by MetalMinded on Jan 10, 2024 10:20am
Casino was at beginning of permit process a few years back and paused to be able to develop a better permit package and get FN buying on that (specifically tailings).

THANKS, Heywood, for the great investment analysis!  I think you are "right on" and see myself as a long term buy and hold investor who has now stayed about 18 years!  I have no plans to sell, but continue to accumulate while the "short sellers" of Canada keep the stock price low.  I suspect that we will see a deal prior to the winter weather breaking so RIO can ...more
