Western Copper and Gold Corp > Potential Minto Buyer...

Potential Minto Buyer...

...has been identified, per latest update from PwC. Out of all the non-binding bids, only one was deemed "potentially viable." Can be presented to Yukon bankruptcy court (I assume) soon as April.

I'll repeat my view that if Rio is truly interested in the Yukon, the value of offering its resources to rehab and restart the mine, in return for whatever percentage ownership, can't be understated.

Rio wants (hopefully) to operate the territory's flagship asset. They need assurances on the power ...more

We do know Granite Creek put in a bid and we know why. GC owns everything in a straight path along the Minto Belt south of the actual mine. But unless GC had a major involved, I believe GC's bid would be rejected. It would need to be a major, or someone with a working relationship with a major. I'm sure Rio knows much more about grid progress than we do. If grid progress looks good, Rio ...more

Rio probably not going anywhere near Minto, and probably for the same reasons that they won't pull the trigger on Casino. Minto has a Yukon grid connect. "Power is supplied to the mine site from the local power grid." however, know the Yukon grid isn't green enough for Rio... Happy to be wrong of course.
