Reading between the lines here.... the good news is that it willl lower the AISC over the life of the project, thus boosting the NPV.  Plus, calling for a minimized carbon footprint offers feel-good platitudes for the remaining few liberals who still buy into the ruse of "global warming".

This is great news! On December 6, 2023, in a closed meeting for Rio investors (I crashed it), Jakob Stausholm mentioned three Ps for greenlighting. The three Ps were: power grid, port, and permitting. Somebody asked whether they needed completing, and I believe he said "no, just significant steps towards reaching those goals". When pushed further, he said "no grid, no mine" ...more

In relation to the grid connect and it's impact on the economics of the proposed mine, I received this from Paul back in May of 2023;  "First, the majority of the carbon tax currently carried in the financial model would go away with grid connected power.  Also, the annual operating expense on LNG for the power plant would be removed for the life of the mine.
