So PAT filed a new patent application 6-7 months ago and it got published a few weeks back in December. I have not checked for a while so I missed the patent pending until now. It seems that the patent is based on, and an extension of, the Quasar patent that PAT has exclusive rights on in perpetuity.
Some highlights of the claims are:
2. The system of claim 1, wherein the system comprises an artificial intelligence or machine learning module in the processor to improve identification of the magnetized object based on the characteristic waveforms created by the magnetized object.
5. The system of claim 1, wherein the rigid framework of the sensing structure hides the number, location, and orientation of the magnetic sensors such that the screening area for detection of subjects with magnetized objects passing by is covert.
6. The system of claim 1, further comprising a video camera for capturing an image or video of a subject with the magnetized object passing through the screening area to assist the system with discriminating whether the magnetized object is a threat.
And so on. Maybe this has been a hold-up for sales and they've waited for the application to be accepted and published? Since a patent pending gives protection.
Anyway, exciting times. GL to all longs!
