Well Results

One does begin to wonder and speculate based on "patterns".....

Basically it seems any well completed after July 2023...seems off on results.

In the quest to lower well costs...did something happen in this process to cause this?

They mentioned how drilling costs were cheaper as wells being drilled faster this summer, but did they do something on well results end..."fracing" that isnt working.

What leads further evidence to this is it looks like 2-3 willy wells are not even completed at end of Dec.

Was management team spending Dec looking at frac methods for improvement before fracing those willy wells....

The wells results are so poor it points to problems in completion and not as much towards bad "ground"/

Yes Kav- it was the completion design at fault. "Vendor issues"--- I'm assuming with the DART system.. Ground is ok. Such a shame, it doesn't really look like these wells will recover. 6 in Willy (2 not on stream) and 5 in Chedder.  More recently drilled Chedder wells to the east are better, but brand new

I wonder if this is situation pushes them into combination with Petrus. Petrus supposedly got their North Ferrier pipeline finished in Dec to haul gas to their gas plant south. The 4 well pad in ferrier that YGR just spudded is JV with Petrus as petrus presentation shows them owning it. Lower NG prices in 2024 is going to force BNE, IPO, YGR and PEtrus to look at all options. Even IPO who had ...more

How could something like this even happen?  Well completion is not experimental. Would insurance for this dart possibly cover something?

These two wells drilled in January in Ferrier plus the 4 well pad they started are going to be obviously so important and look like some of best. They should just use same well completions Taqa is doing as taqa recent results in Ferrier look so good.

I posted back in late November I believe about well results from the five well pad one existing and 4 new at 038-06w5. These wells are finally updated with Dec. production. I am disapointed as I had hoped they would finally be some decent wells. Looking for 100 to 200 plus BOE wells as only a few were producing and only for very short hours. I have to wonder if these wells are production ...more

It has nothing to do with completion technique. Yangarra is good at that. It's all about drilling in an area that has ,at least, the minimum amount of permeability and porosity. Yangarra is struggling with that. Without that you can put the biggest frac ever down there but once the fractures are drained there is no further inflow. They don't have a geologist or engineer on their management ...more

Flinflog I am not a geologist or production engineer. My only knowledge  has been gained through research and  investing in oil and gas companies for the last 40 years. My question for you is why have so many older wells produced at great  rates while the wells on the same pad drilled to the same vertical depth are producing at a rate of  10 to 20 % of the wells next to them. I ...more

YGR had some good wells in Ferrier in 2022. Didnt really drill too much in Willy in 2022. But commodity prices were also really high in 2022 and capex per well didnt mean as much as if lower. But by mid 2023...june-ish I think it was apparent to most...after a warm winter...at least ng was going to be in a tough position. I don't think the cardium undrilled locations are good enough for any ...more

Hi NPF. All horizontal wells from a pad target the same zone so the vertical depth is the same. YGR targets Cardium. The quality of the reservoir varies and ,where YGR is west of Ferrier ,it is also faulted so when drilling you can be in and out of the reservoir. So well results can vary widely from place to place even if applying the same completion technique that worked fine somewhere else. In ...more

cause  the first  wells  already  drained  the product  and/or  more  likely   relieved the pressure  required   to   bring   the  product   out    without   water flood.

If this is common knowledge why is YGR continuing with infill wells like crazy?
Comment by Flinflog on Jan 30, 2024 1:11pm
Because their mantra is that they must keep drilling their land base whether it's good or not.
Comment by margaritaman on Jan 26, 2024 2:23pm
In their never ending quest to unlock better production, YGR keep trying different approaches to drilling and completion. The use of smart darts on 6 of the wells drilled in H2 would be an example of this. Since none of the wells drilled in H2 were stellar I would suggest this experiment was a failure. If they stayed with the tried and true coiled tubing these wells may have been far more ...more
