If

If I was a shareholder of ygr, I am not as of right now, still on the sabbatical from bs of being in stock market ..what would I be hoping for in q1 is some ng hedging puts for next year...still a somewhat decent price .
Ygr should hedge like 30000 gj/d and if something fluky happens to drive spot ng in 2025...just start drilling again hard.
I can't see how the risk/reward favours not being hedged hard for 2025 on ng...especially if drilling costs at ygr are cheaper.

Another reason they should hedge 30000 gj in 2025 is if you can get 3 dollars...should make drilling econmics better and it will also help ensure service labour has new lease builds.
Ygr work crew has value..employees are worth a lot. Turn around from spud to online was really fast in q1...must be working well.

Ygr can high grade drilling locations  for 2024 but hedging for 2025 would allow for more options in drilling like mannvilles.
just my 2 cents.

waiting too see financials

They should have a systematic hedging program at the very least until debt is below 60 million or under .5X cashflow. They should also have some hedges in place whenever a big capital program is planned or if a dividend is launched. The launch of LNG Canada should open up some decent contracts later this year too. Schachter and Nuttall have been saying ithe plant is coming on early but I don' ...more

Rex..Schacter and Nuttall should answer where all of these new LNG is going to end up? Russia, Qatar, Australia, USA...all opening new LNG terminals. Countries with poor GDP per citizen can't afford to pay what analysts want. Do you think a person in Pakistan can afford this? Or other devleoping countries. Another reason why renewable adoption  in USA and Europe matters the most...as ...more

Guys, I really like reading this board- thanks for all the back and forth. A few things that have me really down today... 1. I have some acquaintances that operate a private oil/gas co in Alberta. They own and operate maybe 10-12 wells mostly heavy oil, old wells in the D3 Nisku/Leduc formations, a couple gas wells nearby. Talking with one of them yesterday, they received a surprise invoice from ...more

Fullyauto..sorry to hear that your acquaintances are going through that. But I am glad you brought awareness to issue of impact of gov regulations like carbon tax. quite a few small companies under divesture as older assets and smaller company the worse the impact is likely going to be, especially if wells need work overs ever. I was reading old Anderson energy cardium stuff from 2010-2014 ...more

As   you  are  likely  aware  Anderson  became  part  of  IPO   under  a   re-org.  but  old  Anderson  shareholders  received little  however  Anderson  bond   holders   fared   well   once  the smoke cleared.

I saw the Petrobakken reference. By the time they went under it was Lightstream - assets that were just acquired by Saturn in the Ridgeback acquisition. Which is doing fine. Not amazing but fine.  The issues at that company were all on management, not the ground. Poor debt management, a lack of hedging, completely exposed to US dollar debt and zero currency hedges. They borrowed money at or ...more

Compare the Lightstream fiasco to Bonterra's finances  Instead of a massive convertible they have a small 55 million or so convertible. Plus a bank line, plus term debt. All with staggered maturities.  Far more strategic. And both small enough that they could pay them out with the bank line if necessary.

Asia ?
Comment by TheRexmember on Apr 17, 2024 8:42pm
There will not be any shortage of takers for gas. India is ramping hard, china, japan, korea.  Population growth AND economic growth is off the charts in South Asia.  The key thing to remember is that it doesn't matter where the gas goes. It is trading at a much higher price everywhere outside N. A.  The number of countries that have installed regasification where it did not ...more

Penny this is just one more kick in the crotch. The list is nearly endless. When you pile disincentives on top of each other like governments have in the last 8 years the compounding effect on economic growth, productivity and wealth is truly awful.  I can't see how they can possibly survive an election with the level of contempt out there.  So your colleagues need only to eek ...more

Penny sorry was interrupted per usual while typing. Yes budget and politics, not referring to anyone posting.  Re Colleagues- was referring to people you knew who received a huge carbon tax bill. More idiotic federal government intervention with a bias against Alberta - the main net funder of "confederation" David Dodge called it the worst budget in history since 1982. When his ...more

Rex we are Agee on something, worst Canadian federal government I have seen in my life. The lack of urgency is appalling to turn this around. Canada has been surviving on population growth to mask how bad things are run
Comment by TheRexmember on Apr 17, 2024 9:13pm
Kavern I also forgot to mention that virtually all of the LNG plants have sales contracts (or off take agreements) in place prior to construction. As opposed to LNG Canada where the partners are taking the gas themselves.
