to allowing THO to continue operating their silver mine. Everything is pointing to
no, unless Quatemala's present gov't removes itself from the UN's absurd
interferring with sovereignty, indigenous obstructionism, act.

Why do nations sign these stupid UN regulations suggestions. The indigenous are
conquered not special exceptions that can block sovereignty. Yes they are entitled
to be treaty fairly like citizens but not like little nations in nations.

The Xinca (Xinka) indigenous people do not have to say yes for MSR to resume operations. The ILO Convention 169 consultations are designed to reach an agreement to projects through good faith negotiations. In no way does it provide indigenous people's groups a right to veto any project. Mpdsn77, I don't know if you have been listening but the court proceedings by CALAS (socialist activist legal group) in behave of the Xinca is to close THO's silver mine down, not negotiate a better deal or that would have been the object of the supreme court (SC) and higher constitutional court (CC) decision making. Whatever has been written as per your response, I don't pay attention to any of those details. I still don't believe any of it is relevant in a macro setting.   I only focus on the bigger picture, the big players. I believe the Xincas hold no relevance in this i.e. they never have...just a smokescreen.  The road block was setup and paid for by an NGO. This morning with the news on Peru was predictable.  As was the sudden news this pm.
