YouTube Cannabis Channels - My Opinions on a Few
Here are my thoughts an opinions on some of the Cannabis YouTube Channels out there. This is certianly not meant to be coverage on all of them but here are the few I have exposure to now over an extended period of time:
NOT RANKED IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER
#1 - The Power of Wealth - PoW Group
PROs:
Rob is a HUGE fan of the Cannabis Sector and well versed in chart readings and projections. Overall I like this guy.. hell I almost feel like I should be suggesting baby names for his expected. Rob does product reviews, this is important if you do not have access to the products yourself. I have tested some of the same products he has and his opinion (on most) align.
Rob understands Dollar Cost Average investing but he doesn't explain the principle in any great detail. He mostly refers to his "swing trade position" vs his "long term no-touch" position.
Rob does Weekly News Recaps now, this has helped me a number of times catch a piece of news I would have otherwise missed. This is likely enough of a reason for me to remain a frequent viewer.
CONs:
Not 100% sure I have EVER heard him explain or note anything on Stock Fundamentals. I do realize many use chart readings as a means to daytrade however long term investors need to look at fundamentals of a stock, not just a daily, weekly or long term trend. Stocks can be grossly over-valued at times and grossly undervalued at other times, you need to know the difference to make informed decisions.
Important Takeaway -> Identify who you are as a trader / investor. If you plan to hold for short periods of time and rely on charts, then fine, you will need to be happy with what you get albeit a profit or a loss. If you are prepared for long-hauls then you will need to know fundaments and have a plan that addresses both the good times and the bad (this goes for all stocks).
My Status on PoW: I am not a member and I still watch Rob's videos, especially long running product reviews as I find it amusing to watch him get high. Again, the weekly newscaps are a big bonus with this Channel.
#2 - The Cannabis NewsLetter
PROs: I can't recall this guy's name but he's pretty well versed in both Short and Long position trading tactics and understands potential short-squeeze movements, this I do appreciate. He does get into fundamentals and plots that out on his own charts - "A" for effort.
CONs: This guy can't tell a shorting attack from a hole in the wall and some of his data is questionable (IMHO). I have seen him pull up his charts plotting data points and recall looking at the data (on stocks I track super close) and thinking "those numbers do not look right".
Important Takeaway -> Know your numbers and know be sure to research any topic which seems overly positive as well as anything overly negative. One could be a pump and dump piece, the other could be a Short and Distort (know the difference and you can trade to your advantage).
My Status on Cannabis NewsLetter: Seldom do I view this channel anymore. If I am bored I might but I can usually find a funny cat video which provides me more value.
#3 - The Dales Report / Trade to Black
PROs: I really like that this is a panel of 3 experienced investors and traders. They do not always agree with one another and they each have their own view on topics which they defend with evidence. This is valuable for someone getting to know a stock / sector.
These guys do interviews with some interesting people who again provide insight.
They comment more on longer term trends, news events and macro-level developments within the market which can affect a stock / sector. Again, valuable information / insights to be had.
CONs: Their videos can be long and the topics can be deep. I have had to replay a few of their videos multiple times because I got distracted for a second and lost track of which stock they were on. This is literally my biggest complaint which is really not much to complain about.
There you have it. My uncensored review of three popular cannabis youtube channels.
Hope it helps a few folks out there.
Best Regards,
