Was he able to use margin on some of these trades? If he bought shares in companies that were not doing well then you sell them and you take a loss, but you already paid for them is my point? It seems there are investors willing to buy this stock at these prices. You do not buy these stocks to make a few pennies on them. At least I would think that is the case.

I guess his firm was hit with massive redemptions, and if he is dead they have to liquidate assets and give people some of their money back.
