⚠️Yesterday the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR)

John Quakes
@quakes99 -

Yesterday the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) posted on the Federal Register a Notice outlining changes to US Section 301 tariffs on certain products imported from #China, including #Uranium. The changes stem from a Four-Year Review by USTR and by direction from President Biden. As of next Friday, 27 September, Critical Minerals from China, including Uranium, that enter the US for consumption, or are withdrawn from a warehouse for consumption, will be subject to a 25% tariff under subsection 2844.42.00. I'm advised that the 25% tariff on Chinese imports is expected to apply to all forms of #Uranium imported from China including enriched Uranium (EUP) which was previously subject to a 7.5% tariff.

The higher 25% import tariff to be paid by US Nuclear utility recipients of Chinese Uranium is expected to help curtail US utility purchases of Chinese EUP that undermine DOE's efforts to boost US domestic production under the new US ban on Russian imports that went into effect on 11 August.

Also, I understand that the Uranium Producers of America are meeting with the US Department of Commerce next week to be updated on the annual import quotas being enforced by Commerce on Russian imports vis-a-vis waivers issued by DOE. I will share with U any info that comes my way. Cheers!

So if a USA utility needs Uranium and buy it from China that utility would be paying with all fees $100 per pound.. Therefore when USA based producers find out why would they sell for less than $100 per pound??? Now what happens when the ...more
