🀠🐂Bullish #Uranium & #NuclearEnergy news flow was on fire

John Quakes
@quakes99 -

Bullish #Uranium & #NuclearEnergy news flow was on fire this past week with Three Mile Island's restart! Demand for Western mined #Uranium is surging in a global #AI-boosted #Nuclear Renaissance! Here's my weekly recap:

Tech giant Microsoft has signed a $16 Billion 20-year power purchase agreement to secure the restart of Constellation Energy's 835MW Three Mile Island Nuclear reactor 1 to power its AI data center expansion plans in #Pennsylvania. "The bottom line: Rising power thirst, data centers, and fighting climate change are starting to remake the nuclear landscape." Surging demand for 24/7 reliable carbon-free electricity to power global AI/Data Center expansion is driving new unprecedented demand for the only large-scale Net-Zero emissions "always on" power source capable of meeting that demand: Nuclear power, which in turn is tying AI growth to increased Nuclear power and Uranium fuel demand. Nuclear utilities and Uranium mining stocks have now become an AI investment theme tied to the escalating power demands of a full-blown AI revolution. axios.com/2024/09/20/thr

Computing giant Oracle is designing a massive new data center that will require more than a gigawatt of carbon-free electricity, powered by three small Nuclear reactors. cnbc.com/2024/09/10/ora

A record-setting 2,960 delegates from 178 Member States met in Vienna last week at the International Atomic Energy Agency's 68th General Conference which kicked off with the 4th successive upward revision to the IAEA's annual projection for Nuclear power expansion, rising by 2.5 times to 950GW by 2050 in the high case scenario, including a significant new contribution from the deployment of small modular reactors(SMRs). This equates to a 2.5 times increase in Uranium requirements to nearly 500 Million lbs U3O8 PER YEAR by 2050. iaea.org/newscenter/pre

US Deputy Secretary of Energy, David Turk, reaffirmed to the IAEA Conference in Vienna that "The United States is committed to deploying civil nuclear energy to meet global net-zero targets, including our pledge alongside 24 partners to triple globally installed nuclear generation capacity by 2050, and strengthen energy security" vienna.usmission.gov/u-s-national-s

The Sapporo 5 (USA, Canada, France, Japan and UK) have mobilized $5.6 Billion to expand Western Uranium enrichment & conversion capacity over the next 3 years. The group has invited other like-minded nations to join the commitment to secure a reliable Nuclear fuel supply chain free from Russian influence. Expansion of Western enrichment & conversion = increased demand for Western mined Uranium. energy.gov/ne/articles/sa

On Tuesday, September 24, Centrus Energy will host a special briefing on Capitol Hill to outline the path forward for restoring a large-scale, American-owned, American-technology uranium enrichment capability and the associated supply chain.

The briefing will discuss how Russia, China and others have displaced the United States as the global leaders in uranium enrichment – and what it will take to re-establish America's domestic supply chain.

Centrus will discuss their plan to expand the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, so it can meet the full range of U.S. commercial and national security requirements for enriched uranium. The potential expansion will require a public-private partnership combining robust federal investment with significant private capital and commercial offtake agreements. The briefing will update policymakers, industry, and the media on this effort and what's needed to make the expansion a reality.

These reactor life extensions add unanticipated Uranium fuel demand of around 800,000 lbs per year for another 20 years. "This significant approval ensures that the nuclear facility will continue to provide reliable, low-cost and clean energy to FPL customers for the next three decades." In addition to Turkey Point, the company's St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant and the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant, owned by FPL's sister affiliate NextEra Energy Resources, are currently undergoing their subsequent license renewal application processes. newsroom.nexteraenergy.com/2024-09-18-NRC

Mangoe. I asked for someone to articulate a BEAR case.  I need to understand why folks would be shorting this sector now. What Quakes posted was just the news from last week? If so I would think the shorts must be getting concerned??? But until either yca, sput or fuel buyers start to purchase and the price starts to rise I cation folks this could be another false start??? Or not??? We have ...more
