Last week, Aero Energy (AERO.v AAUGF) announced the commencement of drilling at its Murmac Uranium Project in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin.
Following the recent identification of 13 high-priority drill targets, this is a significant milestone, marking the start of AERO's first-ever drill program.
The Drill Program
Situated between the historical Gunnar and Lorado Uranium Mines, Murmas has significant promise with historical exploration revealing numerous high-grade uranium occurrences that have yet to be systemically explored for basement-hosted mineralization typical of the Basin.
Further validating the exploration model, a 2022 drilling program by Fortune Bay confirmed the potential for high-grade uranium with significant findings in several drill holes.
Expected to cover ~2,600m through 10-13 drill holes at the Project, the project is designed to explore for high-grade basement-hosted uranium deposits and is adaptable based on real-time findings.
Notably, two occurrences of strong to intense radioactivity have been discovered at surface while scouting the initial drill site locations, including 60,793 cps and 13,533 cps, underscoring the prospectivity of the Murmac Project.
250,000 Acres in the Athabasca Basin
Highlighting their commitment to uncovering high-grade uranium deposits across its 250,000 acre land package in the Athabasca Basin, AERO is additionally prioritizing further exploration at the Sun Dog and Strike projects, planning an additional 2,000m of fully funded drilling.
Tapping into the Athabasca Basin's emerging potential for high-grade unconformity-style mineralization, AERO has identified over 50 shallow drill-ready targets and 125km of target horizon on the frontier north rim of the Basin with the application of modern techniques.
Focused on the north west side of the Basin where very little modern exploration has been done, AERO is applying modern techniques to target the high-grade basement hosted deposits that are typical of the Basin as previous exploration in the area focused only on near-surface uranium.
