In the station
this is my third time round the TUD / AMK / TUO roller coaster and right now we are sitting in the station, loading up the cars..... People are nervous, wondering if they will get on, stressed about where to sit, front, or back, or middle, what's best? Will I make it? The cars are filling up, how many seats, we count to see how many are in front of us. But we make it, we are in, we sit down, ots all quiet. Hands and feet inside at all times crackles the tanoi, the bar comes down suddenly and the train shudders as the brakes are released. We wonder, what did we do??!!! Its all quiet ... Now, its May and we start clicking up the first big hill, click, click, click, anticipation building for the ride to start, click, click, click, the top of the hill is ahead, we catch a glimpse of the other side, it looks like a straight drop! What have we done? We think. Then a moment of silence, we are here, there's no turning back, we are taking a ride. A small pause at the top of the hill and whoosh, we are off, hands in the air and wind in our hair.... Now its June, July, August, its fast and we are getting thrown around. Up, down, loop, we bang an elbow, and catch a look at the person beside us grinning and screaming. Did the person behind us just throw up? Will we lose what we have on our pockets when upside down? September and October, and November, we are in a rhythm, the speed we are used to, is it slowing down? ups and downs, the initial rush fading a bit, some of us want off the ride, some wish that it will go on, wasnthere a photo? I feel queasy are the thoughts in our head December, January we come into the station, some jump up quick, run for the door with the memory of the ride, others stay in their seat waiting for it all to start again. February, March, April, those that stayed are sitting, waiting for it to start again, anxious and worried that the carny will make them give up their seat. Then, without warning, the bar comes down, we are told to keep their hands and feet inside at all times, and we start again to click up that first hill, click, click, click, click. I can almost feel it.
