Gold exports major source of revenue for Russia

Gold exports are a major source of revenue for Russia in terms of their ability to transact with the global financial system.

Last year, they were worth 12.6 billion pounds ($15.45bn) and wealthy Russians have been buying bullion to reduce the financial effect of Western sanctions.

The clampdown is likely to be the most meaningful economic measure against Moscow announced at the G7’s three-day meeting.

I have a sneaky feeling that Russia and China is trying back their currency to the gold standard. I haven't heard to much about Basil 4 lately. I think the only way to save the US dollar is to bring back the gold standard. If that happens gold would spike to $10,00 - $15,000 / Oz. Just thinking out load here folks. Great point...but if they did that, I would think the next move might be to nationalize everyone's gold and take the gold mines just like FDR did for the depression....and we think Longh and Strong "sucks".
