What the heck is happening to the stock price?
Morning everyone - first time poster, long time investor in AMY. Always enjoy reading the posts on this page, but for some reason the discourse has dried up over the past few weeks. So I thought I'd add my two cents.
AMY seems to be in freefall ever since Larry's passing was announced. The share price hasn't been this low since Dec 2020. I'm sure we all agree he was the driving force behind the company for many years, but surely with all of the company's recent achievements (patents, NDAs, demonstration plant), the company should be able to stand on its own feet by now. Zarko has done a nice job with the podcasts over the past few months, and the demo plant seems to be firing on all cylinders. So it's a bit puzzling why the SP is getting hammered so badly.
My opinion is that the lack of any important news releases by AMY for most of 2022 has allowed the shorters to get control of the share price again. AMY's only focus right now is on R&D, to work out the bugs and get all the data they need to design a commercial plant. And with $20MM in the bank, they can keep doing R&D for probably another 2 to 3 years, without having to go to the market to raise additional capital. That's great for the company employees, but not so great for the SP and investors.
I for one would like to see AMY start giving regular updates on what's happening with their planned recycling plant in ITALVOLT's gigafactory in Italy. Has any design of the plant started? What would be the recycling capacity? What are the estimated construction costs? What are the lead times for ordering equipment? Does AMY pay for the recycling plant, or does ITALVOLT build it and AMY runs it? What is the business model for making money from the plant, and how much? Give us something to show that AMY will be doing more than just R&D for the next few years.
Looking forward to better times and a higher SP!
