Andover partner to start Big Hill drilling in January

2013-12-17 10:20 ET - News Release

Mr. Gordon Blankstein reports

ANDOVER SUBSIDIARY CHIEF RECEIVES NOTIFICATION OF 2014 WORK PROGRAM ON BIG HILL PROJECT

Andover Mining Corp. subsidiary, Chief Consolidated Mining Co., approximately 83.5 per cent owned by Andover, has received notice from Kennecott Exploration Co. of its intention to resume drilling on the Big Hill copper porphyry project. Kennecott has secured permits from the Department of Oil, Gas and Mining for the state of Utah for the program. The permit is for three new drill sites, an extension for an untested drill site from the last program and for the construction of access roads. Kennecott has contracted Staker Parson for site construction and preparation, and TonaTec was awarded the drilling contract for the Big Hill targets. The preparation work has commenced, and drilling is expected to start in mid-January, 2014.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kennecott may earn a 51-per-cent interest in the Big Hill project by completing a prefeasibility study or incurring $20-million (U.S.) in expenditures, whichever occurs first, and an additional 4-per-cent interest by financing all project costs until delivery of a feasibility study accepted by Rio Tinto PLC. Chief is carried on 45-per-cent interest until the completion of the feasibility study.

Further information on the project will be released as the data are received from Kennecott.
