The New Zealand measures to "burst the housing bubble" are simply government virtue-signalling to hide the onset of uncontrollable inflation. Look at a chart and you'll see NZ house prices going parabolic from 2020 onward, which is when the money-printing became parabolic as well. Thanks for your kind words ard. Apart from enforcing further needless panic and lockdowns, I can foresee the authorities, if not starting a war, at least causing mayhem in the Middle East in some way in order to drive up the price of oil. Having done that, they can blame soaring commodity prices on rising oil, and hence avoid drawing the obvious conclusion that they are really the result of a ...more
