Assays as preliminary

Thank you very much to Captain Duff for that excellent post. Just to get things back on track then, am I right in thinking that the assays from the NR (which assays we haven't spoken about yet) correspond with the early-March cores which were posted, first on Twitter and later on the website? The drill holes seem to correspond with what is written upon those cores, which are dated "2nd March 2021."

If so, these assays would appear to be extremely early stuff. Eighty days have elapsed since the 2nd of March. The assays are good but obviously not the best of the best, which may be why the market reaction was temperate. The market may even have mistakenly thought that these were final results. The most impressive thing there is the 61.2 oz/t muck pile, and there are a few other pretty impressive things as well.

As far as I can see, these assays are not particularly important, because, as the NR says, they are from "PRELIMINARY" work. Observe from the NR: "Bayhorse is pleased to report pleasing exploration results from PRELIMINARY drilling and sampling." They do not necessarily have to do with the actual drilling of the conceptual model, or where the geologists really want to go. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

An additional point. The assays are therefore seemingly NOT from the work which recently extended the ore-body to the south. Those are (I infer) the samples "which have been submitted for assay, with results pending."

Apart from what Captain Duff says, the really important thing in this NR is the news that the ore-body has now been extended to the SOUTH, after having been already extended along strike to the WEST in the previous NR. I believe that, along with the discovery of the highly mineralized (and therefore promising) stockpiles from the historically mined upper stopes, that is the part which the geologists are expressly pleased with.

I blush.... I really have no idea what the new assays will bring. The extension of the ore body to the South is huge!. What I do know is that the sorter is rejecting less rock. From that I infer that the grade is going up. A lot. Now some of that may be, oh dear, copper or antimony, but it is likely to be silver. The current, run of the mine, average is 22 ounces a ton. Which is grand. But more ...more

A person with a geological background whose opinion I could not more highly respect has now given me his opinion on this NR. First of all, he speculates that this preliminary drilling (which again is from over _80 days ago_, if I am not mistaken, which is very early,) was basically done on blank holes. This would explain the temperate market reaction, which often looks at grade and assays without ...more

Excellent analysis and thank you for sharing. This board has some exceptional minds that freely share their insights from Duff to Wanderer, GK and many more) and I for one appreciate it much.  Have a great long weekend, lots of interesting things to ponder.  Who would have thought the technical side of mining could be so interesting.  Have a great long weekend folks.
