I am in Lake Forest, Orange County, Calif.  Weather great almost always.  Would not worry too much about Mexico, it is emptying out (along with all of Central America) into the U.S.  Have made some posts on this board that I regret it is just I am not a person that likes to wait on things. I'm up here in Canada (Lower Mainland, BC) and am surprised at how fast the area is filling up and not only losing its charm but concrete is replacing the cool refreshing greenery. Drove from Anchorage to Denver on the Alcan when it was mostly a dirt road.  Really beautiful.  People like 428, Greede, Ard, Wand, Capt Duff and others cannot all be wrong is good enough for me to stay the route no matter how long.  They just have to understand I am a complainer.
