Magmatic hydrothermal breccia

Hot porphyry magmas at depth will blow off "steam" any chance they get.  These gas explosions will create breccia pipes of various sizes.  The breccia pipes may be weakly mineralized but most are not.  They bring up bits and pieces (clasts) of the rock below up to several kilometres down.  They can be treasure houses of free information about the rock below.

"Strongly veined clasts of porphyry" says that the porphyry is underneath the breccia pipe which is backing up the findings of 24-19 and 24-21.

These hole are core-drilled.  They have the grades from xrf for all these holes +/-10% accuracy of true grades.

Some technical points: Technically, a magmatic hydrothermal breccia is created by a high pressure wave of superheated water (>100C) moving through a weakness in the rock.  The water is not yet steam due to confining pressure.  When this water gets anywhere near the surface it turns into steam which creates a gas explosion which creates a gas/phreatomagmatic beccia. Once formed these ...more
