Really Loughatorick???

You may also recall from that very misleading video, how the Chief also said that they would start the mine and then continue right under the lake. ...

I do not know about you, but I never would not work in an open pit mine with a lake over top of me.

I'm guessing that you realize that open pit mines tend to be somewhat cone shaped, The deeper the mine, logically the smaller the base becomes.

There is a reason that Raven Trust took down the video and the reason I suspect is that the info provided was not accurate

Hi $ 500,000 Salmon, The point of my post is that the LBN does not appear to have spent a lot of time evaluating the mine plans. The LBN has consitently been opposed to the mine as they are concerned that salmon stocks will be harmed. I am familiar with the plans to mine the deposit. I also hope that EAC and mine permit will be approved.

HI Lough,, it is very simple, no First Nation participation, no land development. Is the mine right on FN (First Nation) land claim, I can say it is contentual, as the run off/spin off/ drive off is all to be considered.  Your back yard may be yours, but the land behind may be billions in minerals, and it is up to you whether you want the pass.

You don't have to dig into too much case law to understand that consultation is a two-way street and that a first nation's refusal to engage does not mean that consultation didn't occur.  Also, it is the province's responsiblity to consult on behalf of the Crown - not the corporation that is proposing the development.  Per the previous and exising EA assessment for which ...more

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. The Foundation Agreement states that the Province and LBN need to try and reach a common understanding on, in part, major mine permitting. It also provided guidance as procedures on how to resolve disagreements. In other words, there will be shared decision making. This would include the joint review of permitting of major mines in LBN Territory. So ...more
