Organized by environmental associations, protests against lithium mining will be held in 23 cities in Serbia this week.

Tonight, starting at 7 PM, a protest will be held in Oseina, and on Monday in Bor, Raa, Smederevo, Rekovac, and Bresnica.

The protest in Inija is scheduled for August 6th at 7 PM in the Square near the Post Office.

Residents of Sremska Mitrovica will protest on Tuesday, August 6th, in front of the “Pinki” Sports and Business Center (7 PM), while residents fo the Pomoravlje District will gather on August 6th at 7 PM in Jagodina. Their message in the protest invitation is: “If you are not a farmer, you will not dig here, nor bring in foreign waste.”

On the same day, starting at 8 PM, residents of Kni will protest in front of the Cultural Center.

On Wednesday, August 7th, protests are scheduled in four cities. Residents of Kragujevac will gather in the square in front of the Department Store, and residents of Novi Sad will gather in the central city square. Protests in Bajina Bata and Obrenovac will be held in city squares, all starting at 7 PM.

On Thursday, August 8th, Gornji Milanovac residents will organize a Stop Rio Tinto protest in the City Park (7 PM). At the same time, protests will also be held by citizens of Subotica (Liberty Square), Smederevska Palanka (near the Fountain), and Kruevac at the Kosovo Heroes Square.

Under the slogan “Follow Me, Heroes,” the protest in aak is scheduled for August 9th at the City Square (7 PM), as well as in Ni (near the Mayor’s Office), Vranje (plaza in front of the Department Store), and Lazarevac in front of the Mining Fountain.

Environmental associations have announced a large protest for August 10th at Terazije in Belgrade too..

In recent days, for the same reason, massive protests have been held in Loznica, Valjevo, Ljig, Barajevo, Bogati, Grocka, Kraljevo, Negotin, Koceljeva, abac, Arilje, Aranelovac, Krupanj, Mladenovac, Kosjeri, Poega, Mionica, Raka, Panevo, Topola, and more.

The protesters will demand that the government adopt a law on the permanent ban on geological research and exploitation of lithium and boron in Serbia.
