24-hour CEO

While listening in on the AGM webcast last week I noticed on my world clock (it's always on one of my monitors) that the meeting started after midnight in Adelaide, Australia. It was over at 01:30 AM for DrDR.

I've talked to DrDR before about the hours she keeps, talking to the North American and European pharmaceutical industry executives at really weird hours in Australia. In the summer, Adelaide is 17.5 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Savings Time. It's 18.5 hours ahead of me in the winter, currently 15.5 hours ahead of the east coast (EST). And she's 10.5 hours ahead of London, UK.

I'm getting a little cranky over those who think she works part time. Midday in Australia happens when the East Coast of NA and Europe are sleeping or about to sleep and while the West Coast of NA is shutting down.

DrDR's business hours are horrible, but I would contend that during Adelaide's midday hours DrDR is free from almost all connections that relate to Bioasis. In other words, in Adelaide, she's free during her mid-day hours to surf, swim, read a book, run Carina Biotech or to do anything else she wants to get her jollies.

This "part-time" stuff is nonsense, as I believe you will soon see. She needs the support of shareholders because you can be assured that efforts to run her down here on SH or anywhere else are noticed by partners and potential partners. They all follow SH and they have a financial interest in putting pressure on Bioasis if they think for a moment that the BoD and executive do not have the full support of shareholders.

She's closer to a 24-hour CEO than to a part time CEO and it's time for a few people here and in my world to stop the nonsense about it.

24 hour CEO? I strongly disagree. I'm willing to give DrDR the benefit of the doubt, but the way in which she accepted that other job and the press release is also nonsense. It was skulldugery and I'm far from impressed. I'm seriously p-od. I will certainly have more to say about that in the coming months if she doesn't produce results. That said, I think she will produce and I ...more

Excellent post JD! I'm reminded of when I was out of University and working at my first job. I was a keener and after the first year I could accomplish more in a 4 hour day than many of my colleagues who were much older and more experienced in the industry could in 8 hours. Let's not judge someone by the amount of hours they spend sitting at their desk but rather by the accomplishments ...more

Chrispi, given that presentations from the summer and fall indicated more deals were likely before end of calendar and that appears all but impossible at this late date, you seem to imply you have some undisclosed information when you say "we'll all be pleasantly surprised with her accomplishments soon enough".  Can you explain ?
Comment by chrispi on Dec 14, 2020 3:08pm
I have no insider information but what if a deal happened on January 2/2021 and she missed the deadline of "before end of calendar" would you forgive the company or rake them over the coals for not meeting their "likely" deadline?

Ok, so just to be clear, you have no more information than any other shareholder, and are playing the "what if" BTI management isn't actually incompetent game.  Got it, thanks. Denali is worth $10B USD today.  The mice say xb3 is better.  What if BTI's CEO worked full-time and got 10 major deals next year and took 001 to the clinic ?  BTI would be worth $10B ...more

it doesn't make sense, imo, for bioaf to take into the clinic and develop themselves, the cost would be huge. they don't have the money to do it and if they diluted the heck out of us and the trials failed or they stumbled/delayed, it could kill the company. just license the platform for various diseases and collect a ton of upfront cash, milestones/royalities. that would be the quickest ...more

I won't ever advocate placing the future of the company on management successfully completing material deals (i.e. not the open-ended research type deals that have been all prior except hopefully Chiesi).  The company has to push forward by whatever means to advance xb3-001 to phase1 and as far as we all knew that was the plan until the other day.  So now we wait for someone to knock ...more

,,,Im showing 68 Million shares outstanding with a 66+ Million float..not including warrants and options...about 5 years ago we were ruffly half that number I believe. We are told the next few months will have interesting data released and possibly a deal or two. I would however like to see DrDR back home in Connecticut,,our head office where the North American Biotech center is said to exist ...more

New to this particular board.  I stumbled across the stock and started researching.  The lack of interest baffles me for what appears to be impressive and unique tech.   Zacks even said valuation should be 0.60.   Does make you wonder why there's no movement.
Comment by chrispi on Dec 18, 2020 12:14am
that Zachs analyst research report has a share price target (of where they think it should be trading RIGHT NOW) of .60 USD which is .76 CDN Yes, we are severly undervalued as the analyst from Edision Investment Research has a target of .89 CDN

Always someone willing to hit the bid. That's been the problem for quite a while. Should change when new buyers start moving into BTI with volume.
