This isn't a smart aleck question.

Can anybody offer an explanation for buying BTI at 5¢ and even pushing it to 5.5¢ when it looks like the conversion will be at 4¢ or less?

Why the premium? Are there expectations that MTP will rise to USD $1.00 or so to meet the CDN 5¢ price of BTI before this deal is executed?

Or am I having a senior moment here, a brain fart, or maybe, as broadcast on here for years, I am just dumb (jd)?

Also, why not buy MTP now at USD 70¢ to 80¢ instead of buying BTI at 5¢ or 5.5¢? Wouldn't you get a better conversion now by doing that? And when you see somebody touting this deal, as pof does, do you wonder whether he understands that no matter what he might say, that BTI has moved from 16¢ to 5¢, a baked-in loss of almost 70%, requiring a rise of 220% after
