My estimate of Stanmore $6tn vs CAD
Just my own rough guess,
Not likley apples to apples as Stanmore bought two BHP operating deposits with 25yr mine life.
My math is based on the two BHP mines that are on pace to produce total 11ml tonnes this year.
Stanmore bought 80% BHP stake paying $1.35bl intial payment of $1.20bl US.
The mines have expected mine life of 25yrs so X 11ml tn works out to 275ml tn x 80% = 220ml tn in reserve divided into $1.35bl = Stanmore paid $6.13US total per tonne less whatever you thing the exsisiting plant equipment and goodwill is worth to get the per tonne in ground. CAD is currently trading at less than 0.55US per tonne.
BHP is retaining the higher quality Met Coal mines they still believe in Met Coal. Stanmore thinks they can blend there new nearby Met Coal deposit to improve the quality of the Met Coal they will be selling in the future.
