A Road too Far ?!

While the Yukon Govt has recently allowed mining activities to resume for existing projects, it has agreed with FNNND to ban all new claims and quartz mining applications due to the Victoria Gold fiasco. For Cantex, no further drilling beyond the North Rackla claims.

Even for a well-advanced project like Fireweed Metals, it's road access application to extend the existing Canol Rd to the MacPass project was voluntarily withdrawn in 2021 due to stiff opposition. Fireweed estimated CapEx is forecasted at around $500 million as compared with Cantex's $1.5 billion projection. Despite indicated resource estimates, Fireweed is struggling to start up a new mine.
The chances for another hard-rock mine in Yukon are pretty slim.
