Resource Scarcity

Here you go.  Something different.

From Steven Leeb - an investment guru who was the first to predict 100 dollar oil a long time ago.  He is the only guy I pay for investment advice.

This is his Market Update for today:

Most people are skeptics and simply don't believe resource shortages are a rapidly worsening global problem that could upend our entire way of life.

T
oday, for the first time in human history, virtually the world's entire population-a record 6.5 billion-is avid for more material goods.

As a result, demand for resources has soared spectacularly. To give one startling statistic, between 2000 and now, per-day global demand for oil rose by 20 million barrels-which was the total amount the world consumed for the entire year of 1960! As for technology as an on-call savior, that's more akin to a religious belief.

So we're sticking with resource scarcity as our key guiding investment principle. A rising awareness of resource scarcity will benefit all commodities (notwithstanding inevitable corrections).
First, though, one additional point. Somewhat ironically, higher commodity prices, which have made the world riskier, have upended the risk quotients of many stocks: some traditional safe havens are now riskier than some stocks traditionally considered risky. Food processors, for example, once reliable defensive plays, have become highly vulnerable to rising commodity prices. That's because higher food prices, by reducing disposable incomes, make it harder for companies to pass higher costs on to consumers. Ditto for producers of household products, whose profits will be crimped by rising costs of chemicals.

Meanwhile, many stocks traditionally seen as risky, including commodity plays, have everything going for them. Such stocks usually do best when money is flowing, as it typically does in a pre-election year. This year, with the flow of money unusually strong and with many defensive stocks facing big headwinds, stocks that benefit directly or indirectly from rising commodities should soar over the next six to nine months.

I believe Steve Leeb refers to all those companies with positive drill results and a realistic idea of a mine or a take-over by another big player. CDO does just have unexplored properties and no positive drill results at all. Do not compare apple with pears.

My God you are an enigma aren't you.

I would prefer to be called a realist, who is able to learn. This kind of stocks are highest risk gambles and CDO has been a longterm speculation of mine which was not been successful. If you understand the stockmarket you know the rule: A good speculator has to understand  should accept mistakes,  but  has to learn by it , and has to get real to avoid the samne mistake again. It ...more

It is time for you to step back and realize that as a long shareholder, you are on some level part of the problem. You come here every single day as a 10 year holder ripping the company on a daily basis.  You see only the negative and when people come here to learn about the company they see your daily rant. Nobody would ever ask you to lie, but you see the world so black.  Every single ...more

1st the logic in my post is that shareholder express opinions. that is what bullboards are made for. Neither negative nor positive opinion are right or wrong....it is called "democrathy" and 'freedom of speech".2nd I do neither pump nor bash CDO. I tell my opinion after holding for ten years. Ergo: I am in because I wait for another hype....but I do not believe anymore in a big ...more

Every single post you make you say you are here 10 years.  You wear that like a badge of courage, but it is really the opposite reaction that people have when you say that. You have held here for 10 years and are killing yourself for not selling about a dozen times.  I think the integrity of your opinions here are all used up at this point.

wildman, do not start to talk crap about my intentions staying here for tean years: I have been part of this story since my friend Rene got in with us - his friends. We did not want to destroy the progress and the price of CDO, so all friends kept their shares. You are talking a lot of crap as it is you who is always whining about Dwek and other sellers. you should be happy that longterm investors ...more

YOu are a long time long and ripping the company on a daily basis.  That is just flat out dumb.  Put me on ignore if you can't stand someone looking for positives. I don't want to ignore you, I just want to point out how illogical you are.

Why don't both of you just INBOX each other when just ripping each other apart and keep this board for usefull comments that pertain to the stock itself.
Comment by trader4ever on Mar 08, 2011 10:01am
goldengirl,  you might be right.....but 'useful comments'? I did not see any usefull comments here since months - not by anybody ! And I must say again...it is not the fault of the bullboard members. It is usual since years: Nothing by the company....nothing by bullboard members.  Taking into account the lack of inforamtions by CDO, one could close the board for some months ...more

Good Lord,trade4ever,  why don't you just put yourself on a computer generated loop.  Set it to refresh every day and then you can save yourself the time. I tried to inbox.  It was very insulting to him that I would be there.   Listen, goldengirl, why would it be smart to let his snot litter the bullboard every single day without reply as if he has it right, and no one ...more

Till we get some NEWS I have to agree, we all comment on what we think might happen or when it will happen but in the end it means dick all until it becomes factual.
Comment by trader4ever on Mar 08, 2011 11:26am
wildman, you are really a fat snake with two tongues: "I tried to inbox.  It was very insulting to him that I would be there."Here is what I've got by you inbox "... you are kind of a dummy aren't you." Kiss my a&& !

What I said is I thought we could have it out at our inboxes and you told me to leave your inbox area, so I did.  Hey, good for you, you managed to have a post that didn't tell everyone that you have been holding for 10 years and Rene is your friend.  Congrats.
