Retail investors don't short. They just buy and sell. Most retail investors don't even understand how to short a stock. They can't comprehend how shorting works. If they're sophisticated enough, they certainly wouldn't short a penny stock. Besides, the big 5 banks I'm Canada don't allow it. That is not true. You can short through many full service brokerages, I use Canaccord an PI myself. As for not shorting penny stocks, also untrue, penny stocks are often the best shorts because they are often based on little more than hype and pumping. Once this company released it's first negative news release, it was a lay down short, because of the large amount of speculation built into

Yes of course. Did you know that the highest Nortel ever traded was $124.25? I watched that trade go through. At that time, Nortel represented 37% of the TSE composite. Did you know that never once in its history did Nortel report an operating profit? It went to zero.
