Mercedes new 1000 khm battery has nickel like all the trucks and other long distance batteries have to have.  We shall see how the day ends.

So actually "over half" of the Tesla batteries still need nickel. End of story. Half of CNC nickel will be going to the steel industry too where forecasts are strong for the long term.

One major downside with LFP, they are less energy dense = lower range for same weight as other cells. Plus they are affected by cold wesather which is about 90% of Canada and half the USA.  Also charging problems have been an ongoing issue and supposedly a 100% charge corrects it with some software calibration ?  Seems suspect to me it took them this long to solve such a serious issue.&
