Government Funding

Does anyone know if Mark applied for gov funding similar to FPX?  I noticed that FPX jumped today because of news that they received - while just $725k - funding from this special program.

"FPX Nickel Corp. PX said Wednesday that the Government of Canada has provided the company with $725,000 in funding.

The company's shares, which rose 3.4% in Canada yesterday, climbed 3.8% in early Frankfurt trading on Wednesday.

The funding was awarded by Natural Resources Canada under the Government of Canada's Critical Minerals Research, Development, and Demonstration program.

The company will use the funding to accelerate the demonstration of the technical and commercial viability to produce nickel sulfate and cobalt hydroxide for the electric vehicle battery supply chain from the company's Baptiste Nickel Project in central British Columbia."

100% they have Caramba. All companies would have applied. No reason not to apply. How much they receive is another story.  There's no way companies like EV nickel and FPX receive funding (albeit a drop in the bucket) and not CNC. We're closer to production than the rest not to mention the support from Timmins . I'm going to go out on a limb and say we're going to receive much ...more

Here you Caramba. This is the quote from Mark towards the end of the news release of the Ontario critical minerals innovation fund Nov 24, 2022. This is obviously just provincial.  "Canada Nickel is fortunate to own a globally significant nickel sulphide development project in Timmins, Ontario. The funding announced today by the Ontario government is an important signal of its support ...more

Great. Thanks apapas. It was surprising to me how much fpx jumped. Seems like the market right now likes these kind of news. I am not a fan of fpx considering their remote location and being in bc.  And cnc seems a bit artificially supressed right now.  I could see 10+ cents up soon. And good to see you being active again.

Here's a current article on how the Federal government is considering ramping up critical minerals funding.  https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-ottawa-offers-small-canadian-mining-companies-some-relief-in-new-round/

Are you kidding me? That's the reason the Feasibility Study was delayed until the end of June. A new Goverment program could cover up to 70% of the Capex. This requires a re-write of the study to factor all this in to it.

That seems like a high number. But gov support is ramping up and that is a very good thing.  Lots of moving and new parameters for the fs. Carbon credits, new sequestration process, funding... so yes the delay for the fs makes sense.   Sp won't stay at these levels for long I think.  Glta

Yes that's a high number but even lower numbers 10% of $1+Billion in caped discounts is over $100million which is a pretty good chunk of the market value of the company right now.

The numbers I heard were 30-40% tax credits for carbon capture technology and equipment.  I believe the angle is to incorporate the carbon capture into the mill and processing to have a shot at these credits.  Obviously applications and approvals need to be made.  The delay is fully justified in my eyes as the company would be running a tax free operation for quite awhile if ...more
