This summer, I had an incredible 12-week summer internship at California Nanotechnologies Inc (TSX.V: CNO.V, OTCMKTS: CANOF) working with a dedicated team at the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) laboratory in Cerritos, CA. I directly contributed to R&D projects commissioned by national labs, universities, and companies in the industry by setting up and running the SPS experiments and performing characterization work on the samples making for a truly amazing and worthwhile experience.

During my time, I gained valuable hands-on dexterity skills to help me in future high-precision experimental work. I also learned and applied the theory of SPS by operating the 7.4 SPS machine on numerous metallic and ceramic samples with different dimensions. Most of the samples I sintered were cylindrical and had diameters ranging from 1.6 to 6.5 inches, heights of ~0.1 to ~3 inches, and masses of ~30 grams to over 6.5 kilograms!

I am so thankful to Eric Eyerman
for giving me this wonderful summer internship opportunity. It was a pleasure being mentored by Brian Weinstein, CMfgT
and Grant Campbell and working closely with Evander Ramos and Tucker Moody in the SPS lab. I got a taste of what it’s like working in the industry and had a great time!
