Feeling

I attended the meeting again today. For sure the attendees looked more concerned than yesterday -understandably- they will be more affected by the project than the people in Matagami! A lot of questions were about: the water (use, quality, release in the nature), transport on the road (what a 90 ton truck is), spill kits (!), the pikhuutaau agreement... etc... What strikes me is how unclear and how shaken our representatives were by rather simple questions. Simply put they looked like they didn't know their s... I understand that the zoom format might not be easy for everyone and alot of the questions seemed strange because the people that were asking are not necessarly familiar with the mining industry but honestly I was pulling my hair and yelling at my screen at some point. Hopefully they are better than what they looked like today.

sorry for the rant
scuse my french ;)

Yes some of the water quality questions were quite reasonable. But some of the concerns elicited, stemmed from internet readings on the water issues associated with South American brines. JSL pointed this out. But I am not certain the clear distinction was made by some participants.

I had the same reaction in front of my screen. I was jumping on my chair at some point and wanted to copy paste a link to what a 90 tonne truck looks like and what it weighs.. I don't believe management were ill prepared, I think that they did not expect these kind of questions, add to that a little difficulty to speak english across the board except for Anne Gabor that seemed very ...more

May be rougher at Nemaska meeting tomorrow with Nemaska Lithium fiasco fleecing shareholders and creditors. We'll see, hopefully CRE reps are better prepared tomorrow and speak with more conviction.

It was indeed rougher at Nemaska meeting today! Were CRE reps better prepared today? Not in my opinion - kudos to Anne Gabor and effort by Jacqueline Leroux.

All the questions were around  1-road traffic  2-compensation agreement 3- water people attending today wanted two thing: assurance to be listebed to and compensation in the form of money. Anyway that was my reading. Special tanks to dalesio for providing guidance and answers to management trough the chat sidebar!  Cheers

You are definitely not wrong from my limited attendance in today's meeting. Will try to attend tomorrow's Nemaska meeting.

I attended the meeting and I thought it was really good. I think everyone was satisfied with the answers to each question that were asked and I don't think any answer was left open. I got the impression that the COMEX team were really happy with the questions and answers. The team answered everything quickly and although the Zoom makes it a bit awkward, I was really impressed with their ...more

If anyone has attended Comex meetings in the past they would know that the questions asked were minor in nature. These were not full blown protests or major concerns but the usual questions that come out of this process. I appreciate everyone that attended providing input but from what I've heard these questions can be easily addressed very quickly and we will have our permit soon.

Granted, however, I don't remember or don't know are not answers to questions. Especially Paul. Hopefully they are better prepared for tomorrow's meeting at Nemaska. I worked within 1 Ontario Cree First Nation and 3 Northern Quebec Cree First Nations.

Valid points on the preparation part dalesio. I don't remember and I don't know are not great responses.
Comment by insider1267 on Feb 16, 2021 8:45pm
Maybe we should send this video to Paul so he knows what an on road 90 tons truck looks like!

I attended and I think that management was very patient. After saying that  the  trucks will be conform with what these roads were intended for, what more is there to say ?? I had the distinct impression that  there was only one major question asked, and it was "Whats in it for me" I can understand this since we are on their land, and of course we cannot set up a mining ...more

Spot on man!      Answers some questions  leading up to this point perhaps
Comment by Speedypete on Feb 16, 2021 10:39pm
Spot on       So what is the compensation arrangement?
Comment by dalesio_98 on Feb 16, 2021 11:46pm
While I was on the Zoom meeting, considering there were no prickly questions to respond to, why did they appear not prepared, lacked emotion and conviction? If the questions weren't complicated, why were there I don't know and don't remember responses? Appeared unprepared and lackluster in my view.

Hey Dalesio, Here are some of my thoughts on this matter: Part of the answer lies in the fact that all these questions were asked many times before along with other more important ones. The signed accord with the Cree of Eastmain and Nemaska has gone way beyond this, and do not forget that the federal permit went into those as well. The Comex meetings are more of a formality if you ask me. So ...more

Good post Thinker The truck thing is trivial but if someone is nervous about trucking in front of his home you should be at least able to tell him that the 90 ton truck won't be the 20 ft wide caterpillar 777 type but will look rather like regular road truck... I wouldn't like to cross a 20ft giant in a curve on the gravel road going to EM1. I also think that when asked about the water ...more

Noted, both Tinker and your post are very important. Anne Gabor impressed me, she also responded to questions without being directed to do so.

Is this a new " meeting" or something that occurred in the earlier proceedings ?
Comment by Wheeler on Jul 14, 2021 10:49am
It's from the minutes of their monthly meeting held on April 22 but were just recently loaded up to their website.
