The government says it will spend $3.8 billion over eight years for a critical minerals strategy, and $450 million over five years to unclog supply chains. As part of the strategy, the federal government also announced a new 30-per-cent tax credit for exploration projects related to critical minerals such as lithium and cobalt, which are used in the production of electric vehicles and batteries.
