CNRL doing their own thing

Have been told by a CNRL insider that they are no longer entertaining CVW technology...  Did own DD and found:
1.  CNRL are not mentioning CVW anymore in their latest "Technology and Innovation Case Studies" report   (https://www.cnrl.com/sustainability/sustainability-reporting/).

2.  From their 2022 Annual Tailings Management Report to the AER, submitted in April 2023 , they state the following on Page C-23:
7.   Thickened NRU Tailings (NRUTT)

In 2022, Canadian Natural developed a scope for a novel tailings treatment facility to recover
naphtha and bitumen from NRU tailings prior to disposal, to improve tailings consolidation and
reduce disposal area emissions. Due to pending Intellectual Property considerations, details of the
novel process cannot be divulged at this time.  The process has been evaluated via laboratory test
work to confirm technical feasibility, as well as provide inputs to design such as performance and
vessel sizing information. The majority of test work was completed in 2022, with some test work
still ongoing in 2023 for further process refinement. An updated facility estimate is expected at
the end of Q2 2023. Facility design is ready for detailed engineering.

Clearly looking at doing their own thing imo...  Also checking with their IP lawyers that they do not interfere with CVW patents, but they would have checked this at least before going into FEED.

I guess that would explain the tight lips from CVW. Disappointing for sure, but potentially not the only avenue CVW is looking at. It seems that CVW technology might only be used a la carte, it at all. Limits the potential for sure, but hopefully not a total loss. Still some real benefits to the tech if an agreement can be reached with another major.

A couple of things: 1) What sparked your sudden interest in CVW? According to your profile your account was created yesterday and since then you have posted twice. Most posters on this site have been here quite a while. Your arrival begs some questions. 2) From what I understand there is a small (but outdated) grain of truth in your post but unfortunately you have missed the mark on the ...more

Pretty much bang on James.  The poster came on to create some selling in the stock at the very same time a large buyer through TD appeared with iceberg buy orders. Very conveiniently timed  and somewhate effective in the selling it created . James your post about year end should prove quite accurate.  There is a lot going on right now and a lot to like . CVW is always weakest ...more

The report you are quoting in point 1 does not contain the name of any company that CNRL is working with other than a bunch of non-profit industry think tanks and research organizations.  I am sure that CNRL are working with many other companies, the fact that none of them are mentioned doesn't mean a thing. I tried searching the internet for the text that you quote in your 2nd point ...more
