Wound healing:

CZO's avenanthramide wasn't given much time to act given the size of the wounds. The timespan for full wound closure was only 12.44 days in the control group. Despite the limited time to act CZO's avenanthramide injections administered every other day reduced the time to complete wound closure 14.22%. The result was statistically significant(p = 0.032). What about larger wounds? What about if the avenanthramide was impregnated in PGX-OBG or PGX-OBG-YBG-Alginate, for example? Beta glucan also statistically significantly improved wound healing at 8 and 10 days in CZO's study. Could the beta glucan and avenanthramide results even be synergistic? What if another bioactive was impregnated into a PGX carrier with avenanthramide? CZO previously studied ibuprofen in PGX-Alginate. June 2020 news release:

"The high surface area of the PGX-processed alginate scaffold facilitates >8 wt% loading of ibuprofen into the scaffold and controlled in vitro ibuprofen release over 12-24 hours. In vivo burn wound healing assays demonstrate statistically significant accelerated healing with ibuprofen-loaded PGX-alginate/calcium scaffolds relative to both hydrogel-only and untreated controls, demonstrating the combined benefits of ibuprofen delivery to suppress inflammation as well as the capacity of the PGX-alginate/calcium hydrogel to maintain wound hydration and facilitate continuous calcium release to the wound."

If avenanthramide injections administered every other day can help close such wounds over a short period of time as in CZO's study with the Angiogenesis Foundation what about CZO's avenanthramide pill currently approved for clinical trials? Could CZO's pill help treat wounds? Could a diabetic on long term avenanthrmide therapy to manage glucose levels which will be monitored in CZO's study also have more rapid wound healing as a side-benefit for instance. Wounds in diabetics can be deadly. CZO's study may be just a first step in a longer term project.

CZO's Abstract:

"Results: 1% β-Glucan and 1% AVE treatment significantly accelerated the rate of wound healing as compared with control mice. Other doses did not significantly improve healing. The mean time for complete wound healing was 10.67 days in the 1% AVE-treated group compared to 12.44 days in the control group (p= 0.032). At day fourteen, 1% AVE also promoted a significant decrease in length and alignment of collagen fibers compared to control (p= 0.033, p= 0.048), and significantly decreased CD45-stained inflammatory cells (p= 0.002). 1% β-Glucan significantly decreased wound size relative to controls at days 8 and 10 (p= 0.009, p= 0.016). At day fourteen, 1% β-Glucan promoted a significant increase in width and length of collagen fibers compared to control (p=0.031, p=0.036). 1% β-Glucan treatment upregulated CD133, CD34, and CD31 expression compared to the control (p=0.001, p=0.036, p=0.040)."

What's the path to commercialization? What are the next steps to advance this?

Looks like a longer term project and may therefore be quite secretive at this early stage. First they had to understand avenanthramide and beta glucan individually and find an optimal dose as an injectable. Ultimately the possibility of using injectable avenanthramide impregnated into PGX-YBG-OBG has come to mind longer term. Beta glucan is CZO's delivery system. Perhaps PGX-YBG-OBG could ...more

There is a difference in being secretive and having a strategy. Here's where customer focus is key. No use building a better mousetrap if no one is interested. This is where a partner(s) comes into play. It would provide some laser focus to an endpoint. If you are loading your delivery system with someone elses drugs to make them more effective, you need to involve the interests of those ...more

"There is a difference in being secretive and having a strategy. Here's where customer focus is key. No use building a better mousetrap if no one is interested." Hard to know the strategy if it is secretive. How can they tell you the strategy if it is secretive? The first goal in biotech is also to prove that you even have better mousetrap. CZO has clearly undertaken work to ...more

LOL.  You can have a strategy to partner up for research and development and be secretive on the details of product development.

"LOL.  You can have a strategy to partner up for research and development and be secretive on the details of product development." What's laughable is that you want to partner before CZO even knows what it has as it is also working to scale-up the technology and as it is first focused on low hanging fruit like the immune booster, and CoQ10 drink first. CZO has clearly ...more

Quite the contrary, as others have noted, R&D is key and is a long road. CEAPRO has too many inititatives but needs the resources to advance them in a timely manner. PGX is a delivery system, the applications are endless. Bringing in a partner in the business world accelerates timelines. Let a partner take care of this wound healing initiative and let CEAPRO work on the low hanging fruit ...more

"Let a partner take care of this wound healing initiative..." Very silly given CZO has more work to do to figure out what it has.
