Management has publicly stated that their metallurigal process will produce a scandium phosphate concentrate from the waste residue/tailings which should be very economical since it is coming from non-laterite with very little impurities to remove. The formula for scandium phosphate is ScPO4.
"Kolbeckite is a rare mineral that occurs in localities in Germany, Romania, Austria, the United States, India, Russia, and Australia. It is a secondary mineral that occurs in hydrothermal metallic veins and some phosphate deposits."
"Scandium oxide is the primary form of refined scandium produced by the mining industry. Scandium-rich ores, such as kolbeckite ScPO4·2H2O are rare."
Compare the two formulas. Kolbeckite which contains 24% scandium naturally and is made up of scandium phosphate, the DBG/HAT product, and 2 molecules of water.
I'm liking the DBG metallurgy more and more.
