I was hoping for $2 last year, id take $2 for sure now. Need plenty of hype for $5. But, hope I'm wrong

$5 would let me pay for my first home in cash so yes please! :) I know DM should be trading for way more but then I keep reminding myself that I bought it for .135 cents only 3.5 months ago so I think we are still doing pretty well compared to other companies. Also, Q4 financials will be out sometime within the next 3 weeks (or 15 trading days) - how exciting is that? :)
Comment by StockReddy on Apr 08, 2021 7:26pm
Ask Torlif how exciting is this. I could have sold and bought for each NEWS that way I could have made so much money. I was waiting last 1 year for 40 cents to get my own investment. Recently I have started selling and buying and finally making some money. Insiders themself buying and selling why not us?

Hehe good point, I guess I haven't been here long enough but I am frustrated with share dillution and insider selling as well, I'm just trying to be positive as we have heard enough of the bad stuff here recently. I am glad you're making money though! :) I invest through TFSA so I don't want to day or swing trade too much, I'll just wait till the end of April (or May) and ...more

Last years financials were out April 29th correct? Any reason this year will be different?
Comment by Leonovus2017 on Apr 08, 2021 8:53pm
I don't expect them next week, but certainly the 19th week or so.
Comment by Yeehaw1 on Apr 08, 2021 7:44pm
on tfsa account there is no restriction that you can't do day /swing trade. If there is one then please do let me know. Thanks!

Yeehaw... The following are things I've learned from word of mouth. How accurate they are is hearsay because it seems there's quite a gray area wrt a TFSA. 1. They typically don't look at you until $200000 or above 2. They say not to rebuy a stock until 30 days after you sold 3. If you trade to often they will treat it as if it's a business and taxes will apply. Again just things I ...more

TFSA Stock Trading Rules You may be surprised to learn that your trading activity could constitute a business, even if it’s done inside a TFSA. The tax rules mean that should a TFSA operate like a business then they have to pay income tax. Recently, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has focused their audits on taxpayers that are actively trading within their Tax-Free Savings account.  ...more

What would be a reasonable definition for "actively trading"? Is there a time component that everyone should be aware of or is it set up as a mouse trap? "and your intention to hold investments for resale at a profit."  Is this phrase to suggest you should only hold shares in your TFSA if your intention is for resale at a loss? What's the definition of " ...more

This can all be searched on the internet. Is it a mouse trap?? Absolutely in my opinion. They should have definitive rules but I could never find any. "The CRA prohibits a user from carrying a business inside the TFSA. Thus, day traders, beware. High-frequency trading raises alarm bells. The CRA conducts random audits to catch anyone abusing the account and making quick profits by buying and ...more

I just try to judge myself accordingly . If I find a company like DM that continues to show amazing promise I hold onto it . Just knowing that multiple record quarters are coming aside from all the other catalysts is reason enough to see this through. To be honest I have on rare occasions sold and rebought stocks that I didn't really care about but not repeatedly. Is that right?? I Don't & ...more

Well said @MoneyMKR72. I'm letting this ride out past the financials and see how the AI plays out :)

Only the government would decide they can charge "TAX" on a "TAX FREE" Savings Account... SMH.
Comment by GalAnonymous on Apr 08, 2021 9:02pm
From what I know (and I researched it extensively) you're ok as long as you don't go over your contribution limit and don't make too much money. I don't know what the magic number is (I read 1 mln but I found one article that said 200-300k) but once you get there you get flagged by CRA and they can audit you to see if your TFSA is an investment account (as it should be) or a ...more

Yes, the total TFSA limit since the beginning and up to 2021 is $75,500 but of course you can multiple it through your investments (that's the whole point). As long as you stay somewhat "long", you're fine :)
