Dear Member,
We hope your 2022 is off to a good start despite the challenges we all are facing due to the Omicron surge.
I am writing to inform you that the COVID-19 Return to Work (“RTW”) Agreement between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA, DGA, IATSE and Teamsters and Basic Crafts (the “joint unions”), has been extended through February 13, 2022.
The joint unions are set to negotiate changes to the RTW with producers in early February. However, in light of the ongoing Omicron surge, we have been working with producers to recommend additional protective measures to make productions safer for our members, right now. They include:
- Daily testing in Zone A and increased testing in Zone B;
- Upgrading to N95, KN95 or KF94 masks and other improvements to PPE; and
- Encouraging all personnel to obtain vaccine boosters.
Most of the studios and streamers are already implementing these optional but important extra measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone working on their productions.
As performers who often cannot be masked or physically distanced, SAG-AFTRA members are among the most vulnerable people on set, making the need to remain vigilant and flexible in the face of this unprecedented surge of crucial importance.
In addition to our team of field representatives, our members have an essential role to play in helping monitor and maintain safety on set. Please immediately report any on-set safety concerns to our 24 hour safety hotline at (855) SAG-AFTRA / (855) 724-2387. As always, your safety remains our top priority.
Sincerely,
Duncan Crabtree-Ireland
National Executive Director
