Trudeau Is Trying To Ram Through Censorship Legislation

The Trudeau government is once again trying to silence its censorship critics.

You know that when our rights to free speech and free expression are on the line, there shouldn’t be a limit on input from the public and experts, but that’s what’s happening with Bill C-11.

The federal Heritage committee is examining C-11, but it’s planning to limit testimony on the government’s censorship bill to just 20 hours.

That doesn’t allow enough time for concerned citizens and experts to make it clear to lawmakers just how dangerous Bill C-11 is. 

When the government is trying to censor Canadians’ rights to free speech and free expression, every stakeholder should be given the time to weigh in.

You can tell members of the Heritage committee to remove its time limit on testimony about the government’s censorship bill.

Outside experts and concerned groups, like the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, need to testify and make sure all Canadians’ voices are heard.

Please email the chair of the committee, Hedy Fry, and the vice chairs of the committee, John Nater and Martin Champoux, and tell them to stand up for democracy and extend the committee’s 20-hour testimony time limit to make sure there’s a full debate on this critical legislation.

@cryptopher, although I generally appreciate your DM inputs, I have no interest in seeing this board pulluted by irrlevant subjects. I've put a lengthy list of the likes of Rabiger on ignore. I usually won't post stuff like this but I thought most here might hold relevence is this matter seeing the philosophy of DM is to protect free speech & democracy and why I pushed for DM SMART to get pitched as a solution for Elon Musk to help clean up TWITTER without implementing a so called filter that the old regime sought to install. When the ruling party in government is trying to define what they consider acceptable in speech or commentary you know whom the beneficiaries will be. Like that old saying use to be "trust me, I'm a doctor". It is not "the peoples" interest they are looking after. CYA is always the first approach.

@crypto, free speech is a VERY elastic concept. If everyone on this board repeatedly starts to raise their own views, it will turn into a massive waste of time and board space.
