EV Opportunity

Couche Tarde in Norway wrapping themselves with EV charging and to think this news is a year old, DM has a connection to 7-11 in Korea created by Lotte Group with 11,000 locations and 7-11 has 78,000 locations worldwide......massive opportunity worldwide with many retailers!!

Laval, Qubec, Canada – February 7, 2021 Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (“Couche-Tard” or the “Company”) and its global brand, Circle K, make it official: “Yes, Will Ferrell - Circle K loves Norway and we’re ready!” By being number one for EV charging offers in Norway - home to its premier global electric vehicle laboratory - Circle K is ready for the future today with EV charging solutions!

Leading up to Superbowl Sunday in the United States, General Motors launched an electrical vehicle (EV) campaign where comedian Will Ferrell attacks Norway for being ahead on EVs. Circle K responded with its own campaign “We’re ready” where Norsemen-actress Silje Torp Fravaag and its own employees play leading role.

We’re ready!

Circle K leads the way in Norway for EV charging and has more charging stations and home and office charging solutions than any other fuel retailer in Norway. For the last three years, Norway has been home to the company’s global EV lab, where a dedicated team is learning all it can about electric vehicle charging and building a more sustainable future.  Starting this year, Circle K is bringing that know-how to North America, and plans to be ready and waiting as more EV customers hit the roads, making their customers’ lives a little easier every day.

Brian Hannasch, President and CEO:  “We are very pleased to have started our journey in Norway, where Circle K is the number one destination for EV customers. We are meeting those customers at our stores and in their homes and offices, creating a total solution for their charging needs.  With our great team, growing expertise, and progressive locations in Norway, we have learned so much in the last few years,  and we are excited to bring that knowledge and solutions to our global network, including North America, over the coming months and years.”

Hans-Olav Hidahl, EVP Operations Europe: “At our EV lab in Norway, our dedicated teams have gained years of experience in the most mature market for electric vehicles. We always want to offer our customers the best possible experience, and Norway provides us the perfect testing conditions for first generation EV technology including chargers, vehicles, and payment methods. I’m proud that Norwegians see Circle K as the leading destination for EV charging, and I look forward to expanding our network of high-speed chargers and home charging solutions outside Norway over the coming months and years.”

Currently, Circle K operates a high-speed charging network with more than 500 chargers on its forecourts in Norway. The chargers are a combination of company-owned high-speed EV chargers and partner charging offers with Tesla and Ionity. At its busiest Norwegian Circle K highway locations, the sites are equipped with 20-40 high-speed chargers. In downtown Oslo, Circle K was the first to begin replacing fuel pumps with high-speed chargers. Circle K has also expanded its offer with over 4,200 home and workplace charge points.

As the premier EV charging provider in Norway, the company is ready to bring its capacity and knowledge to North America and other parts of its global network to further its journey toward a more sustainable future. In the coming months, the company will start to roll-out electric vehicle charging solutions at North America locations, beginning in its Quebec and California markets, with a combination of Circle K branded chargers and partner charging solutions.  We’re ready!

Yikes! A major competitor for Datametrex. This article, companies mentioned, or concept in no way helps Datametrex or it's shareholders.

Daaahhhh.....From your comment its convincing to me you have comphrension issues.......Lotte Group and DM are business partners in SK.....Lotte created 7-11 group in SK with 11,000 locations part of an enterprise of 78,000 loc worldwide........the Couche Tarde piece was simply presented to display the meaningful use of EV chargers at a conv retailer......and besides I understand you fail to see ...more

And who in their right mind would want to charge an EV at a 7-11? You like spending your time starring at hotdogs? Free big gulp with every charge? Give your head a shake.

Only head shaking is about how short sighted you are....total ignorance.....conv store chains exploring into more fast food options, and just in case you missed it, fast charging capability will be adopted and every minute plugged in, is a bonus......I'll reiterate, you are not a big picture thinker, actually not even a thinker just a basher/whiner....

And then there's those individuals that think competition is the EV sector is good. What a complete failure to human existence and thought. Competition is good for the CONSUMER, not the COMPANY relying on revenue and POSITIVE EARNINGS. GIVE YOUR HEAD A SHAKE. It's funny how someone can post an article about the impending North American EV invasion of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate and ...more

Thanks for that reply, validating absolutely nothing but just your continued ignorance....get your head out of the sand...

Competition is good, especially if you have a superior product. We'll find out soon enough how good DM is compared to the competition.

Competition is good, helps a company to keep innovating. Time will tell what DM will bring to the EV charging scenes in comparison to the competition..
Comment by Shlinker_ on Sep 23, 2022 9:02am
When the competition has billions in equity, competition is not welcomed.

Yes Scotty time will tell us all we need to know. Q3 at the end of Nov will tell us nothing but the year end report at the end of April will give the market the first look at revs. Until that time I hope to see signed supply contracts / installation deals as that will be our only guage at how things are going unless the company gives revenue updates along the way but that is very uinlikely is my ...more

For me 2023 might be the year if they can get some more P.O, and with great execution of the EV vertical some big installation deals this will grow. Uplisting could attract some big players IMO.
