I'm Thinking News is Released After Market Close

Speculation on my part, but I think we won't hear anything until after the close today. The purpose of a halt is to allow for an orderly market. Whatever the outcome, good or bad, it will be big news and the stock price will be very volatile for a while. An after market release allows all of the news to be digested and have a more orderly open in the morning.

Almost 3pm eastern time and I agree after the markets close. Tomorrow morning we'll see where the bid/ask sit before the open. Keep in mind that will only indicate which way the market is going with the news, what the actual price at the open will be determined at 9:30am exactly.

If that's so people will only have one day to trade on the news before the weekend. Good or bad. Jmo.

As mentioned in a post earlier, when the results are out you are obligated to halt trade so no one has unfair advantage. Someone may already know the results and the fact it was ticking up the last few days suggest the someone knows something. Timing is based on results not whether it is a Friday or a Monday. I used to hate earnings being released on Fridays so I sold the stock before Friday. Lol!

A company may also be obligated to halt trading to prevent giving some an unfair advantage heading to the exit. With the recent string of events being largely negative  - huge delay in well 4, technical problems, board member resigning, being unable to have a presser ready to release after close today - that all really does not suggest they are about to release some wonderful news
