New Wastewater Regs

The federal government is enacting new regulations starting the beginning of the new year in regards to the levels of things like ammonia and chlorides that can be safely dumped by mines and municipalities. These new regs should be very helpful to Enpar for selling the Ammel systems. These big companies have been dumping this stuff for years now they will have to deal with it.

I have heard about the new regulations the government is enacting- I can imagine other governments are going to be doing the same thing...... -The really good thing is that Enpar systems are proving to be among the most effective to be found anywhere, from what I am hearing, and the most recent test results are in line with that.... From Environment Canada's website regarding the new regulations: The effluent quality standards will be phased-in. It is expected that about 75 percent of existing wastewater systems already meet the minimum secondary wastewater treatment standards in the regulations and do not need to be upgraded. The Regulations address how and when the remaining 25% will be required to meet the standards ...more

"Ammonia: Ammonia may be present in wastewater from mining operations as a result of the use of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil (ANFO) as a blasting agent. Any ammonium nitrate spilled in preparation for blasting or left over after a blast may contribute to increased ammonia concentrations in wastewater. Electrochemical removal: A pilot-scale charge barrier capacitive deionization process is reported as effective in removing total dissolved solids, nitrate and ammonia from water. The process employs an adsorption of ions on the surface of two oppositely charged electrodes.
