Dear Mr. Dogger,

Thank you for contacting BMO InvestorLine. My name is Beemo Reppie and I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

I checked with my Manager in regards to this. If there is a cease trader order on the Canadian stock then you can not a trade on the inter-listed stock on the OTC.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate contact us. Thank you for choosing BMO InvestorLine, we appreciate your business.

Regards,
Beemo Reppie

Dear Investorline ,

In my queery regarding Encore I have provided a copy of the BCSC cease trade order and URL to the BCSC site . It clearly states that although the stock is halted in Canada , Canadians holding the stock can sell their shares on the OTC provided they are not insiders and their broker is registered in British Columbia .I know people  have done just that through their broker at TD .

If BMO will not do the same , what , pray tell , is the answer why they will not ???

Dogger: so basically BMO won't allow one to trade it, even tho it is stated explicitly in the BCSC EZ CTO that it is OK for non-BC'ers to do so.Sounds like a bunch of non-thinking lackies at BMO...

It may be BMO's policy . Just like our banks have a policy of not shorting penny stocks .... it's not illegal to do so but you can't force them to do it . I'll try to get a better explaination from them and post .

"My name is Beemo Reppie "?...come on now, Dogger, who are you trying to kid with this?Surely you aren't telling us that an organization, BMO Investor Line, actually resorts to having it's Public Service employees answer the corporate communications as Bee-M-0 Rep(resentative)pee?I think either you are not whom you represent yourself to be or someone mistakenly gave you ...more

The Bank of Montreal's online brokerage is called InvestorLine .InvestorLine has a inboxing service called MyLink through which they send estatements , changes to their brokerage services , etc, and take questions .It was to MyLink that I sent my question regarding trading Encore on the OTC so that I might have a written statement to post .I have copied and pasted MyLink's responce , as is ...more

All  orders,  in  this  case,  have  to  handle  manually  and  only  good  for  the  day. This  is  true  with  TD  trough  which  I  sold  my  shares. All  sold  on  the  same  day  at  .076  in  two  lots  at  ...more

Thanks Jenny .... perhaps not so effectively .Moneymaker probably got what I was posting as he uses InvestorLine others maybe not so much.

Maybe,  Moneymaker  BMO  doesn't  care  or  willing  to  go  trough  the  trouble  of  place  manual  orders  in  an  halted  penny  stock. Also, maybe  the  status  on  EZ  have  changed  from  a  simply  halted  to  a  ...more

Well .... I've spoken to a real live InvestorLine rep , reviewed the cease trade order on the BCSC's web site , and the matter has been refered to BMO's compliance departement . Hope to have an answer by Monday .

I had an early reply from BMO .What they are saying now is that in order to sell your shares on the OTC it would have to be reviewed on a case by case basis to ensure that all the criteria of the exception on the cease trade order are met and then it might be possible . When asked why a BMO rep would tell someone this would be illegal the responce was , " It would be illegal as the stock ...more

Well ..... I tried .Not very good answers from BMO as far as I'm concerned .Almost like VanHope says .... couldn't be bothered . I don't see any changes to the cease trade order on the BCSC web site so I would think the exception still would apply .
