FDR: Now we’ll never know…
Whether we can beat Great Bear, that is. Though I’m sure no Founders’ shareholders are crying. Because as of this morning, we have sort of *become* GBR. Or as close to that as is possible.
Two great leaders are better than one. The [friendly] rivalry is over, even if it was only ever alive in the minds of some FDR shareholders.
It reminds me of an old online discussion. B.I.R.T.: Malcolm Reynolds would beat Han Solo in a fight. An interesting debate, perhaps, but one commenter ended it decisively. He pointed out both men were talented space smugglers and would waste no time fighting – they would go into business together immediately and make a fortune!
With a Padget and Taylor alliance, it is even better than that. I can’t think of two men whose personalities more perfectly complement each other’s. As I’ve contrasted them previously, Taylor is the consummate salesman, while Padget reminds me of some introverted internet start-up genius. Mr. Outside and Mr. Inside, as Harvey Mackay might say. You need both to build a championship enterprise.
One has the depth of experience and confidence that comes with massive success and acclaim. The other is still hungry for the thrill of that exact experience… and has meantime accomplished a huge milestone on the road to it: respect of his peers! Taylor gets to re-live some of the greatest days of his life, and Padget gets to directly benefit from the Great Bear magic. Win-win. Plus a win for us FDR shareholders.
So bring on the feared short-sellers. If Chris Taylor really starts taking a liking to our little firm, he’ll buy everything the bears are offering and more. Wouldn’t you, if you had Taylor’s money? I know I would.
