kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year?

kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year?

PartlyCloudy, thanks for the link.

The following example talks about 210 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year. Technology has certainly improved since 2014.

What is your opinion on how many kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year can the Montalva Solar Project deliver?

April 07, 2014
Scatec Solar has received the final approvals necessary to build an 80MWac photovoltaic, or PV, solar plant in Iron County, Utah. The Utah Red Hills Renewable Energy Park, set to be built on a site with excellent solar irradiation, will generate around 210 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year, which will be fed into the grid under a twenty-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PacifiCorp.

Has someone a idea/expertise how many kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year can  Montalva produce?

Good question, Frosch1. I have no particular experience in that area but I've tried to come up with a rough ballpark number for you. Here are my parameters and assumptions. Hopefully they can also help others to make their own (and hopefully better) calculations: Total DC Capacity (Solar Farm): 162 MW Total AC Capacity (Interconnection): 80 MW DC/AC Ratio: 2.03 ...more

Many thanks Sven!  I have read the SEC file below. It mentions about 280,000,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year. Your caluculation is also with the assumption of full capacity.  Revenue (80,000,000 kilowatt hours of energy per year): 1 Year:  28 MUSD Number of Years for Initial Period: 25 years:  700 MUSD Number of Years for First Extension: 5 years:    ...more

I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers (revenue, capex, opex). I hope to hear more from Jeff soon.    The link below mentions costs of 240 MUSD - including financing costs and OPEX. On my assumed revenue of 800 MUSD, this would give a pre-tax profit of 560 MUSD. What can be taken as tax? I am from Europe - I need your help to understand what the taxes are in Canada/USA. An ...more

Great to see that you're attempting to model the financial potential of Montalva, Frosch1! Heard from a few other shareholders that they're now trying/ or have tried to do the very same, which is absolutely awesome  Would love to see more of that! Value-oriented investors like me do like to talk about valuations, models, and assumptions rather than what's usually displayed ...more

Typo... You're likely close IMHO with your 800 million in total revenues for the initial 25-year period of Montalva...

Thank you, Sven, for your view. I look forward to hearing others views on Montalva Economics.   I have looked at the old presentation. Hopefully Jeff will upload a new one soon. Montalva Economics Revenue = 36 MUSD per year Cash Flow = 13 MUSD per year (quite low figure – I assume is after tax) 35-year agreement    Lifetime: Revenue: 1’260 MUSD Cashflow:  455MEUR MUSD ...more

Rather than guessing, it would be good to get an updated estimate from GRB, as construction costs will have changed. Solar panel costs come down as efficiency goes up. Some labour costs may have gone up considerably. And the costs of transmission upgrades, although "capped", need to be included. We haven't heard anything from the company for a while, they may be working on this as we ...more

" Revenue = 36 MUSD per year Cash Flow = 13 MUSD per year (quite low figure – I assume is after tax) " ====================================================== You may be neglecting to include financing costs, as the whole cost of the project will be borrowed money.

Financing, OPEX, CAPEX, $7M in costs from the past decade, lease payments, bonuses, paying for AG Solar, consulting fees, management fees, 31 months build out, transmission fees, storage batteries?, 20 year panel life span for 35 year agreement (I doubt this would be included as PPOA is for 20 years). Definitely a lot needs to be defined from a cost compared to revenue standpoint. Still PREB, FOMB ...more
