Thank you for sharing that one.   It sounds like the city and the water district have a contentious relationship.    The first half of the article made me think the water district was not being reasonable.  The 2nd half of the article clearly states the city has not provided how they plan to grow at 2.3% per year when the water rights are set to grow 1% per year.   Does ...more

AECOM leaving "due to the difficulty of dealing with TCCWD and their lack of vision and leadership.” Then TCCWD blames the city. Got it. ~~Lunderk

It appears no third party has any interest in working with these parties together.  Maybe the judge in the case wants to punish both sides too.  Children can't get along.

Blizzy, even if the judge wasn't happy with several parties womhonare contributing to the water rights for the project. Just a  thought, what if  the town really wanted the project they could just provide the water rights for the project itself

Just curious, where do you think the "town" would get that water?

Hey Blizzy, still waiting for your answer. Where would the "town" get the water rights for Sage Ranch on its own?
Comment by tylerreddick on May 28, 2024 10:22am
Sorry, that question was for Duffman.

The City buys water rights virtually every year and are currently in negotiations for more. The issue comes as these water rights become more scarce (for sale) they also become more expensive. What does the City do when when they are growing at a 2.3% growth rate, are responsible for supplying a least 50% of the water for a project and they can't buy anymore? Their attitude is "I don' ...more

The only real affordable source of water for residential use is to take it from agriculture.  Heck, I was in eastern Arizona about 15 years ago, and they were already abandoning huge swaths of farmland as Pheonix took their water away. As time goes on, there will be attempts to reuse water, and it may get to the point where, like the space station, people have to drink their own " ...more

Duffman, I am still waiting for you to explain where the city of Tehachapi would get the water for Sage Ranch? I guess you cannot explain it, as it was an absurd comment.

Just for clarity and understanding, Blizzy your comment about "when the water rights are set to grow 1% per year." This perception indicates some of the misunderstanding as to water in the district. The "water rights" are not increasing 1% per year. In fact the amount of water rights available is exactly the same as when they were originally adjudicated back in the late sixties ...more
